World Trade Center on September 7, 2001

I haven't gone down to the site yet, but my sister went last November with her boyfriend. That was when it was still smoking, and she said it smelled horrible. My dad's company still hasn't returned to 3 WFC and they're not sure if they're ever going back. Many of the employees said that they...

How do you get rid of the stupid Macromedia Flash pop-up?

The 29MB download is for the source code. Try this link for Mozilla 1.1, or this one for Mozilla 1.0. These links are for a 214k installer file. You download that, and then select what parts of Mozilla you want to download. For just the browser, it's a little over 8MB download. Steve

World Trade Center on September 7, 2001

Here is nearly the same angle as the last picture, but after the collapse. You can see the steel beams sticking out of 3 WFC in the upper left corner. That's about 15-20 stories up. These two give a clearer picture of the damage done to my dad's building: Picture 1 Picture 2 I can't post a...

World Trade Center on September 7, 2001

These pictures were taken the Friday before 9/11 by my dad. These first two were taken from Battery Park, just south of the WTC. This picture shows 1 WTC in the background with 3 World Financial Center (WFC) on the left, and 2 WFC on the right. In the middle is what is known as the Winter...

Does anyone have about 300k of server space I could use? I have 3 pictures of the World Trade Center my dad took on September 7, 2001 that I want to post. He's not the best photographer, but one of them turned out really well. Steve

Windows Media Player 9 Beta Released

Well, I put it on my test system to see how it looks. I didn't see any improvements in video quality with the samples they provided over what could be done with divx or xvid. As for the audio, I'm not the best judge since I'm nearly deaf in one ear. The worst part is that WMP 6.4 won't download...

Maxtor Reduces Warranty to 1 Year

Reparations for Past Slavery in the USA

No, reparations shouldn't be paid. My family falls into reason number four: The earliest my ancestors came to America was in the 1870s, and three of my four grandparents and my mother were born outside the mainland U.S. Although most of my ancestors did come from a Caribbean island where...

    P4 Celerons

Between the P4 vs. the new celeron, it's 533FSB vs. 400FSB, 512K Cache vs. 128K, and .13 micron vs. .18 micron. In other words, it's basically an original P4 Willamette with half the cache. The old celerons were P3s with half the cache which was slightly slower than true P3s. Steve

    Snakeskin boots

Snakeskin boots are in fact made from a snake's skin and leather. A snake sheds its outer layer of skin when it outgrows it, usually several times a year. Snakeskin boots are made from snakes that are killed when they aren’t shedding their skin, and they use more than just the outer layer. Steve

    14-Year Old Hit By Meteorite

A meteorite that small would slow down to terminal velocity once it hit the atmosphere. It's very possible that there would be no crater at all. Also, meteorites that size are generally cooled by the upper atmosphere, so it would likely be cool or at most warm to the touch. I think the part...
