Editing Posts - How much time should we be allowed?

I voted for 5 minutes, but after reconsidering, I think it should stay the way it is. I know I make my fair share of spelling and grammatical errors, but I don’t see how fixing them will really change anything about the intended message. They’re just cosmetic errors that we all make from time to...

    Unreal Touranament 2003

Just a reminder that the server is up and running. It doesn't seem to be getting much usage, however. :( I've been busy lately, so I haven't had much time to use it as well. It's currently set for Capture The Flag. The good news is that the bandwidth when it's idle isn't nearly what I thought...

Intel vs. AMD? ATI vs. nVidia?

I was wrong, it only uses 180MB. It's the last post on this page.

Intel vs. AMD? ATI vs. nVidia?

According to Epic, UT2003 uses up to 256MB with all the details set to the highest. I can believe it too, since my 64MB card stutters when it loads new levels with maximum settings. Steve

    In memory of Tiger(June 1987 - October 3, 2002)

I sorry to hear that JTR. Pets can be a great thing to have in one's life. A couple of years ago, we lost our dog (16 years old) and cat (18 years old) within a few months of each other, and it's hard losing them. Steve

Wizard's Review: "Mustek GSmart mini 2" digital ca

I should have said most digital cameras store the information. Maybe because it's a software enhanced resolution instead of a native resolution that's it's not showing up?

Wizard's Review: "Mustek GSmart mini 2" digital ca

All digital camera store extra information on the files about the camera type, settings, and when the picture was taken. XP can natively view this information. Just right click on the picture, go to Properties -> Summary -> Advanced, and you can see it. Image viewers like ACDSee and of couse...

I think GRUB is the boot manager. If it is, edit the file /boot/grub/menu.lst and put mem=256M and the end of the line that begins with "kernel".

    Decent board for SDRAM

The original 845 motherboards (not the 845E) are SDRAM for the P4. However, I think they only support up to 2.0GHz Willamette chips, not the Northwood chips. Also, P4s are serverly crippled by the memory bandwidth. For Athlons, some of the KT133s support XP chips. The ASUS A7V133 I have goes up...

    Marine life

According to their website, it's about 2 1/2 hours from NYC, so it would be an additional 15-20 minutes from where I live (a little on the long side for a day trip). NJ has an aquarium in Camden that opened up a few years ago, and is supposed to be fairly good. That one is only about 80 miles...

    Router Sending Out Packets?

The DI-604 is a much newer model, and it appears that it doesn't hide the advanced features as much as the DI-704. I was unable to find any diagnostic info for it, and the manual is useless. The time synching is something I didn't think about and that could be it. I have a feeling it's harmless...

The groups setting does indead work, and I have it set up. If you want access, send me an email. It'll let you restart the level, change the game type, the map, and kick bots (and I think also the mutators). Everything is ready to go, it's just waiting for some players. Steve

Yes, I've used the web admin, and it comes in handy too since the PCs are on different floors. What are the user groups for? Router Sending Out Packets?

I have an interesting problem I just discovered. I have a D-Link DI-704 Cable/DSL Router that whenever it's hooked up to my cable modem, the activity light on the modem and the WAN light on the router flash almost constantly. The LAN light going to the PCs doesn't flash. This happens even if I...

OK, I got it going so I can also connect to it. The server is "SteveC's SF Server" and the password is "storageforum". I'll keep it down until other people get the game, so let me know! I asked how the speed was, and they seemed to say it was pretty good. We'll see. Steve

I think I figured out how to get the server going. I had 10 people on it, but for some reason I couldn't connect myself. Seeing as it got 10 people in just a few minutes, I'm thinking about putting a password on to save bandwidth. Anyone object? Steve

That 5Mbps is for downloads. Uploads are about 500kbps. But you're right, I will set up a server as soon as I figure out how to get it past my router. What ports does it use? Steve

    Unreal Touranament 2003

Damnit! I could email them to you if you want. The only bad thing about my ISP is they don't provide webspace. They have absolutely no download limits and completely uncapped speeds (I routinely get over 5Mbps), but I guess you can't get everything. Steve

    Dual monitors in Linux?

Ok, that's probably what I'll do. I still have to replace the Savage 4 as it locks up my computer hard whenever I try to access my TV Card in Linux. I switched video cards to confirm that it was the Savage 4, and sure enough it was. Steve

It was $40. When my Dad was a bond trader, he used to be able to get tickets to Giants games at least once a year. That's the only way you can get tickets, by knowing someone. The waiting list for season tickets is about 20,000 long, and less than 50 become available each year. The Giants radio...

I forgot to add: There's one quirk in the install. When it finished, it says to put in the disc labeled "Play Disc". Well, they're labeled Disc One, Disc Two, and Disc Three. It turns out that Disc One is the one that's needed. Steve

    Dual monitors in Linux?

What's wrong with Nvidia? Honestly, no I haven't. The only one that has decent 3d speed in the Parhelia, which is way out of my budget. I'm not sure what I want to do now. Right now, I have a GF2 Pro in my Windows PC, and a Savage 4 (which must die a horrible death) in my Linux PC. My budget is...

What a pitiful game! No, not UT2003, but the Giants game. As for UT2003, I have a one word review: Wow! Remember when 3dfx said that 32-bit color didn't matter? Well, they were wrong! The graphics in the demo are not the highest settings possible. I tried out a fews of the levels, and on one in...

    Dual monitors in Linux?

Sorry, I don't know the answer to your question, but I have my own. How good are the Radeon drivers for Linux? Is there full 3d support? I want to replace my POS Savage 4 video card with something that can actually run games and has accelerated OpenGL support. Steve
