    Folding@Home

I think the Hotmail team is a glitch. Look under their users, and you'll "Anonymous" listed. Now look at the top 1000 users, and search for "Anonymous" and you'll see that they almost match up exactly. It seems that they are getting credit for everyone who is running as Anonymous. Steve

    New system... reinstall OS?

If everything is working fine, there's no need to do a clean install. Windows is much better as detecting completely new hardware than in the past. I've switched motherboards on systems before, and most of the time Windows detects everything once supplied with the correct drivers. As for the...

    Opera v6.05

That's what I get for posting half-asleep after a long, hot day! Let me say now, what I should have said earlier. I don't pick a program based on its skins. Both Mozilla and Opera have the basic features I need, such as pop-up blocking, and tabbed browsing, and I would choose either over IE. As...

    Opera v6.05

Browser use is a personal preference. I don't think I'll be giving up Mozilla anytime soon, although the favicon is something I wish it had. I've given Opera a try for about a week, but I just don't like the feel of it. I can't put my finger on just what it is I don't like about it, but I just...

    Smoking

It's perfectly legal if you can prove that you will be the only one smoking them. It's the selling of out-of-state cigarettes that's illegal. I know some of my cousins drive to Jersey to get cigarettes. It's about $4.50 a pack compared to around $7.00 in NYC. Steve

Preparing an answer to "What kind of computer should I

Excellent answer, Tea. When I build a system for someone, I feel obligated to help them on problems I know have nothing to do with the hardware or software I installed. Finished bulding my race truck tonight

It's good to see that you enjoyed it. It's also proof that there still are nice and helpful people in this world. Handruin, you did very well for your first race, certainly much better than I think I would have. Just out of curiosity, how many people were there? Steve

    Your pets, and mine.

I've had a whole bunch of pets during my lifetime. Fish, guinea pigs, hamsters, 2 rabbits, a few snakes, a cockatiel, and an iguana. Mostly, however, it was just our standard poodle Penny and our cat Freckles. Penny was a pure breed and she lived to be 16, when she had a slipped disk in her back...

    Folding Protein P145_1L2Yunf

Both my PCs are working on P146 WU right now. The console version of F@H identifies them as P145, but the F@H Electron Microscope, that Clocker gave the link for, correctly identifies it a P146 and also correctly values it as worth 6.0 points. Steve

    Family Circus Funnies

The Family Circus is absolutely the unfunniest comic there is. The only daily comic I find worth reading is Dilbert. I really miss The Far Side and Calvin & Hobbes. Those were truely classics. Steve

Finished bulding my race truck tonight

I built a plane once, however I never got to fly it. Against my better judgment, I let my dad take the controls for the first flight, even though I knew he wasn't very good at using the remote control. The plane took off, made a left, then started diving straight into the ground. The plane...

Finished bulding my race truck tonight

I used to be into RC cars over a decade ago. I had three, I think. Nothing too elaborate, but I had plenty of fun with them. I probably spent more time taking them apart and rebuilding them than actually racing them. I also had a plane, but my dad crashed it on its first flight, and it never...

    F@H Electron Microscope

I'm playing with it right now. So far it looks pretty good. I can monitor both my PCs now, and I even put the SF logo into it. I think I've set it up correctly, however I think you can't have it automatically start F@H if it's monitoring a remote machine, since it'll try and run it locally. I'll...

    Fat Bastard lives!

Yes. The only local Mom & Pop theater closed a few years ago. That used to have $6.00 tickets, but only 1 decent sized screen, and 2 really small ones. Now we only have one of those 16 screen megaplexes that have decent enough screens, but everything is so overpriced and it seems to be overrun...

I haven't seen any movies in the theaters this year. I just can't see spending $9.50 to see a movie. I'm better off just renting the DVD and going to my parents place to watch it on their widescreen HDTV. However, I'll probably see Goldmember in the theaters since I liked the first two enough...

    Need Recommendation For A UPS

Thanks guys. Now I have a good idea of what to look for. I'll check the Sunday paper to see if anything is on sale. Handruin, you're not the only one who can't get up in the morning. I HATE mornings, plus I'm and insomniac. I don't think I've fallen asleep before midnight since Junior High. Steve

    Need Recommendation For A UPS

Thanks time. I'm not too worried about how long it'll run, since I can't remember when we had a power outage that lasted more than a few seconds. It's just those short ones that are really annoying (and usually when I'm doing something important). Steve

    Need Recommendation For A UPS

Hi Everyone, I'm thinking about getting a UPS for my main system, since it's now more reliable than my power company. The power usually goes out about once a month for a second or two, just long enough for me to lose whatever it is I'm working on. My PC is nothing special: Duron 850 Geforce 2 2...
