National Do-Not-Call List Open for Registration

The national do-not-call list, which goes into effect on October 1, is open for registration. To sign up, go here, and it last for five years. It won't stop all calls, however, and the list of exemptions is here, which unfortunately covers many of the companies that use telemarketers. It's still...

    Enlight Cases Still Good?

I got the case yesterday, and I'm quite satisfied with it. Even though it doesn't say on the Newegg page, the front USB ports are USB2, which is nice. It's not the quietest case around, but I wouldn't call it loud*, either, probably about average. The case temp is 28C, which is probably around...

    Enlight Cases Still Good?

I'm looking for a new case, and I need something that stays cool, and has good air flow, especially over the hard drives and video card, since the room it'll be in gets into the mid-80s (~29-30C) in the summer. What I want: at least (4) 3.5" bays, front USB, comes with a couple of fans...

Ever wanted to know the thoughts of car fans?

Congrats! My car is 15 years old, but only has 75,000 on it, and it runs perfectly, so I don't have a reason to get a newer one, especially since my insurance rate is now at a somewhat reasonable level (insurance in insanely expensive in Jersey).

There isn't much content in NYC in HDTV, but that should change in a few months. Right now, only CBS, Fox, and WPIX are broadcasting OTA in DTV, with Fox being their 480P "enhanced widescreen" and WPIX being a low power, VHF signal. The rest are supposed to come online in September, when a...

Microsoft & AOL Settle Antitrust Lawsuit

Microsoft agreed to pay AOL $750 million and, more importantly, licensed Internet Explorer to them for 7 years, royalty free. Now, it seems very unlikely that AOL will switch to Mozilla, which would have been a big boost for alternate browsers. The complete story is here.

    F---! California passes Net Tax

I think (and hope) it only affects CA residents. The way I read this, businesses have to charge CA residents sales tax if they have operations in CA. This is the way it's always been in NJ, and many other states. It doesn't mean that out of state residents will be charged CA sales tax.

Yep, that's basically the problem. I have it set to 100MHz, and the most conservative settings. I've also used the 256MB DIMM alone in this PC for over a year, so I know it did work previously...

    Getting In Shape

The only reason my dad ran it the first time was because his cousin had run it the previous year, and of course, he had to be his time. He finished in about 4:45 (45 minutes faster than his cousin, even though he's 10 years younger than my dad). This year, he's running it with some of his...
