:( If I added DDR2 PC4200 RAM, would that work OK with the DDR2 PC3200? Of course the BIOS is locked to 400MHz, but does a CAS4 PC4200 become CAS3 at 3200 or do they not play nice together? They don't need expensive memory, just something basic and reliable, but not at the ripoff notebook OEM...

    Need macro indoor camera advice

I prefer to use WhiBal cards for setting the color balance. Simply shoot the cards (pocket size is appropriate) and neutralize the color off of the brightest, non-overexposed card during RAW file conversion. For critical color matching one can also shoot a MacBeth color chart, but that should...

    Need macro indoor camera advice

Macro photgraphy is rather difficult, and jewelry is more difficult yet. Specular and diffused lights, reflectors and light tents are often used. Digital cameras, especially P/S, have limited dynamic range so highlight reflections and sparkle need to be controlled in size and shape. CA and...

    New Windows exploit, unpatched.

D'OH! There are thousands of .wfm files under C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Clipart\autoshap and C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Clipart\cagcat50. Most of the files are dated ~1998. Should I delete them to be on the safe side or are the old .wmf files OK?

    Air Cat strikes again...

In many forums no more than ~800 pixels on the long side is considered appropriate for inline images. However, others may specify NMT ~200KB, with no dimensional limitations. Larger images should be linked. It goes without saying, but the images should be cropped to best effect prior to...

That is typical small predator behavior. Body weight of the domestic cat is low, so jumping ability compared to body length is more noticeable compared to the larger species.

I tried the Picaso once, but think it works only on jpegs or such, not PSD or RAW files. I know it only found about 5% of the files, maybe 1% by file size. Realistically it would take several days to open every file in the native application. If hundreds of GB of files are changed each day...

I am familiar with the Nikkor 16/2.8 fisheye, but don't think there was a f/2 version. Several current Canon wide lenses such as the 17-40 and 16-35 have both front threads and a rear bayonet gel filter holder. The front filter requires a thin polarizer on a 35mm body. I don't know if the...

    moon angle (pictures)

The moon is usually exposed according to the sunny f/16 rule plus one stop (i.e., f/11), because a gay moon does not look right to the human eye/brain. Depending on focal length and (fixed) aperture of the telescope it should be possible to use ISO 100 or 200 on a nearly full without too much...

Tony has good plan. The 5D does not fit in well with his usage of long lenses. It has the lowest resolution of any current Canon DSLR (equal to the 1D MK II at 8.2 µm), whereas the 20D has the highest resolution, albeit in a smaller sensor.
