If you work with large image files, allocate a good portion of that RAM (e.g., 1GB) as a RAM disk and point the 1st scratch disk at it. ;) It is more beneficial for PS that just getting a faster drive.

The cell phone cameras are not allowed at almost every facility I visit. It is hard to find some of the better cell phones without cameras and who wants to leave the cell phone in a car or with Security? Blackberries are allowed, but I don't think they have cameras.

I think the notebook drive is going south. :( How are the data and power connectors of the SATA notebook drives configured? Are they the same as 3.5" SATA or is an adapter needed? I don't want to perform disassembly if it is not possible to connect the notebook drive to the main system.
