    RMA Replacement Drive

Do you opt for the advance replacement or the normal one? How long do they usually take (drive is WD15EADS-00R6B0)? Thanks.

    24TB HDD

It must be economical in some way or they would not be developing it. Units may be in the $300 range when production ramps up. The first generation will not be 24TB of course.

    problem Multiple Monitors

The software does not see the 2nd monitor. It must be a Windows thing.

No, I did not know it was necessary. That software is so bulky. :(

    problem Multiple Monitors

I can't get two monitors to display the same image. :cursin: One is on the DVI port and the other is connected by HDMI to DVI. Either the 2nd monitor can be used to extend the desktop (not what I want) or it turns black as if there is no signal. The resolutions can be the same or different; it...

SSDs - State of the Product?

    Extra Computer

No. It is the large, relatively noisy (though less than before), ancient Antec 10-bay case that I recently cleaned out after 8+ years. :) The rest of the specs as best I can figure are: E8600@4.2GHz, 4GB DDR2-something, GA-EP35-something, PATA NEC 16x DVD±RW, inefficient yet functional...

SSDs - State of the Product?

Does that work for the drive as the OS or just a drive? I simply wanted to restore it to normal, but I don't see that happening. I think the memory is going bad or just plain bad.

31 hours remain. The drive is dying and thus very slow. :( Normally a zero fill only takes 3-5 hours.

    940: how to use it....

Maybe you can allocate more RAM if that would help. :dunno: My system has twice the RAM, 50% more cores, and 40% higher clock than yours. It is faster than the old setup, yet still takes annoyingly long for some PS operations. I could use a 3-4x faster system, which is years away. By then I...

I was able to run it in Win 7, but the first ~5GB is still slower than it should be. OCZ product is garbage to be collected, all right. 8-)

You just learned of this one? It has been all over the place for months. Even I get spam at work about it, although none of the systems would be so affected.

    problem Case Cleaning

I blasted it with the water nozzle and then installed one of the older motherboards, etc. I had a couple of new 80cm fans and installed those too. I'm not sure what I will do with the system yet since I don't have a halfway modern OS. I'm planning to buy one of those cheap 2x2.5" SATA drive...

    problem Case Cleaning

Well I did remove the motherboard, HDDs, PS and fans first. ;) Three of the fans will go to trash. I'll not reattach the little USB/FW front panel board since USB never worked right at 2.0 anyway. There is also a small transducer (speaker?) glued in the front panel.

    problem Case Cleaning

Well I did it but am having second thoughts. There was a back panel that I probably should have removed first to get at the cables. I never noticed that it was removable, or maybe I tried that eons ago and forgot about it. If the "wash" does not work out at least the case will be clean for...

Thanks, but there is no free PCI slot. The X58A-UD5 only has one of them and it is occupied by a crucial RAID card.

    Suggestions for changes/enhancements to storageforum

Why are the options for new topic thread prefixes different in various forums? For example, in Computers the only option is question, whereas in P&B the options are photo, problem or update. There is no prefix option at all in Tech Support. Can they be made consistent without much effort?

    Affordable graphics cards

Are there any relatively cheap passive card with 2 DVI outs? The HD5450 has only one DVI. I want to be able to display the same images on two monitors, not extend the desktop. Would it be better to add another video card instead?

I was hoping for better HDD deals. There is a Seagate 2TB that I would not touch :puke-l: and the same old sAmsung 2.5" 640GB@7200 RPM, but I really don't need another one. The SSD is a good deal, but I have had no further issues with the two Corsair 60's since using them separately.

    External Storage Array
