No. It is the large, relatively noisy (though less than before), ancient Antec 10-bay case that I recently cleaned out after 8+ years. :) The rest of the specs as best I can figure are: E8600@4.2GHz, 4GB DDR2-something, GA-EP35-something, PATA NEC 16x DVD±RW, inefficient yet functional...

Does that work for the drive as the OS or just a drive? I simply wanted to restore it to normal, but I don't see that happening. I think the memory is going bad or just plain bad.

Well I did remove the motherboard, HDDs, PS and fans first. ;) Three of the fans will go to trash. I'll not reattach the little USB/FW front panel board since USB never worked right at 2.0 anyway. There is also a small transducer (speaker?) glued in the front panel.

Is it possible to establish RAID 1 on the OS after the fact? I am contemplating a simple RAID 1 on some cheap controller such as SIL 3132 or JMicron something or other.

Thanks, but there is no free PCI slot. The X58A-UD5 only has one of them and it is occupied by a crucial RAID card.

Why are the options for new topic thread prefixes different in various forums? For example, in Computers the only option is question, whereas in P&B the options are photo, problem or update. There is no prefix option at all in Tech Support. Can they be made consistent without much effort?

Are there any relatively cheap passive card with 2 DVI outs? The HD5450 has only one DVI. I want to be able to display the same images on two monitors, not extend the desktop. Would it be better to add another video card instead?

I was hoping for better HDD deals. There is a Seagate 2TB that I would not touch :puke-l: and the same old sAmsung 2.5" 640GB@7200 RPM, but I really don't need another one. The SSD is a good deal, but I have had no further issues with the two Corsair 60's since using them separately.

Are any of those relatively inexpensive 4-5 bay external storage systems any good? I was wondering if it would be worth getting one to consolidate backups to one logical drive. The total space could be less than the primary drives, since they all some free space. It would need to be eSATA or...
