I got a 2.5" 500GB WD in an external enclosure (Passport Elite) that seems to be working fine. I have no idea if it's a 7200RPM or not. I'd assume it's not.

    Netbooks?

Since I'm in no hurry, I think I will hold off and see what 2009 brings. The Atom CPU seems to be quite the power mizer, but every other chip surrounding it is a bit of a hog. The chipset uses almost 5x the power of the atom CPU.

    GPOS

I have two Nuvi's (350 & 660) and have no complaints... From a review or two I read supposedly the 6xx's work a little better than the 7xx's due to the flip-out vs. built in antenna. However, the 6xx's like the 3xx's are discontinued, (but still widely available).

    Nor will there be.

I think a keypad would be a very bad idea given your tendency to make lots of typos. You would have to spend all night trying to get in.

The Nano also supposedly draws a lot more power and isn't found in any netbook devices, just the older and weaker C7M.

Also, a dog compared to what? I have an old Pentium M 1.4gHz Dell notebook with a 40 gig HD that's pretty quick running XP IMHO, and it only has 512MB of RAM.

Anyone have a Netbook? I was perhaps thinking about getting one, but there are so many different models from so many different companies that all seem similar it seems like a crap shoot.

So who won the other race?

Ok... but that still wouldn't make sense because there aren't a total of 48 states either, but anyhow... Yes, except I'm not trying to imply anything. I will come right out and say that, yes, McCain's people are looking to blame Palin for the loss. Even when they picked her they referred to...

The race for the US presidency

I don't agree. The only thing voting 3rd party does is give the Democrats an easy victory. The core of the Democrats power are the people who will never vote for another party because they are dependent on the current Democrats for their free handouts. That would be the 35-40% of people who...

Not yet. We'll have to wait and see. I'm concerned enough that it's even being suggested. Are they going to come for our property rights next?
  18. S

The race for the US presidency

Voting libertarian, or any 3rd party is akin to throwing your vote away with the electoral college system in the US. I don't agree. If the Republicans want to win they need to run as conservatives, not as moderates trying to out liberal the democrats. Obama is a full blown lefty. Don't be...

The race for the US presidency

Cause he's a moderate. The whole theory was for him to appeal to moderate democrats and independents bringing them into the fold allowing him to win without energizing the conservative base. Clearly it didn't work. IMHO, Palin kept him from getting completely blown out by exciting the base...

So who won the other race?

*Ding* *Ding* *Ding* We've got a winner. The people around the world don't like Bush and the current administration because they've been watching CNN and the mostly liberal media for the past 8 years and they believe what they're watching at a much higher percentage than US voters. No matter...

    Seagate 1.5TB review

I've read the paper, and I don't think it's hard to argue with the data. First for drives in service for 4 years or longer the hotter drives do have a higher failure rate. Second, I'm not sure I'd consider the "hot" temperatures they saw hot. It looks like only about 10% of their drives...

The race for the US presidency

I never said that... IMHO, John McCain was the worst possible candidate the Republicans could have run. The current administration as not done a perfect job. They're screwed up a lot of things. It just hasn't been a complete and utter failure in every possible aspect like the media portrays...

Simple, this election was just a big episode of American Idol. Most of his voters are too apathetic to fight either way. Most revolutions are fought by a vocal minority.

The race for the US presidency

You're fooling yourself if you believe that. Anyone who criticizes him will instantly be branded a racist regardless of how legitimate the complaint is. The race industry will not go into the night quietly. IMHO, you're also delusional if you think Congress will stop him from going full tilt...

Perhaps you can explain how this plan is going to fix the liquidity problem. This plan assumes that by improving the balance sheets they will start lending again. There's no guarantee of that. The might just deposited the money and sit on it.

End of the World As We Know It

That's because in the Senate they combined the bail-out bill with two others. One that was popular with the left side of the aisle, and one that was popular with the right side. The mental health and addiction bill now inserted into the bail-out plan is popular with the left, and the tax cuts...

End of the World As We Know It

I don't agree. Look at the bail-out plan. The Senate version has a pile of pork and other crap put in it in attempts to buy the votes needed in order to pass it. One way or another we're getting this bail-out plan regardless of whether the people of the country want it or not.

End of the World As We Know It

Well, there are several causes and plenty of blame to go around. Greenspan held interest rates so low for so long financial institutions apparently couldn't help themselves. They were lending to anyone because they could get the money so cheap to lend, so blame both Greenspan, gov't and the...

End of the World As We Know It

You'll never get effective regulation from gov't because the people in government aren't smart enough to understand how the market works in order to regulate it. I bet there's not a single person in congress who can explain how derivative products work. If they can't do that, how can you...

End of the World As We Know It

No, I'd be popping in to point the finger at the people in gov't who pressured lenders to loan to people who couldn't repay them so that everyone could have a house whether they could afford it or not. Loose lending created the housing bubble. The collapse of the housing bubble has pretty much...
