    RAID JDOG

I see there is a tiny jumper that I missed it last week. So now the data will be copied over for the 6-7th time in a week.

Three computers and the TV have been on most of the day and the heat is killing me in here. :( It is not that warm outside, but the temp is 7 °F higher than in the living room. The UPS was beeping on and off today from grid issues and the fan was running full tilt. It is a crazy amount of...

    RAID JDOG

I removed the other controllers, so there is only the LSI now. Four of the ports are liberated to the externals with SATA-SATA adapters or other means. The other RAID is temporarily on the JMB externals cause that is the only way it works consistently. I got a cheap USB 3.0 two-drive box that...

    RAID JDOG

Boot order is not the problem because it does the same when manually selected. The array works fine until the drives are powered down. There is some problem with the drivers or Windows that does not support hotswap correctly even though the same drives do when not RAIDed. The computer does...

    RAID JDOG

I don't know exactly what the problem is. It does not happen every time, but once it does that is it. I think it may have something to do with the initilization order and that there is a delay between the two drives. The RIAD works only on certain controllers that cause me other grief. Right...

What kind of nonsense is this? Maybe Seagate should build the drives better to begin with. Or maybe it will be a Samsung.

    WD 1TB 2.5"

The drive is $130 now. I'm not sure it is worth that much. The similar Samsungs were $90 a few weeks ago. I think some of the ratings are a mistake. Unless I misssed something the product is new.

Why was the site down today?

Well I don't mean the whole state of Utah and neighboring states, but some of the parks can be relatively crowded compared to May and September for example. It's not like Yellowstone or places like that in peak season. Of course the places that require a 4x4 see less traffic and some of the...

    RAID JDOG

I can't do that because the controller has the two SFF-8087 ports, not SATA ports, and I will only be using two of the four drives from one SFF-8087 port externally. The other six are used internally.

I don't think it would be a great idea to have a backup array on another computer, becauce I might get the two computers computers confused and change files on the backup system accidentally. That would be chaos. :) Maybe I should make two RAID 0 arrays, one in the computer and one external.
