    It's HOT

I've spent the full summer in northern Virginia and it is uncomfortable, though not unbearable unless you work outside all day or have no A/C. Anyway the Atlantic like many places in the US is only really hot/humid for a few months of the year. I do prefer the dry heat of Arizona or Nevada...

    It's HOT

I've been all over the world (7 continents) and stayed in many of them for longer periods. The 12 months I spent in the Caribbean were the most challenging.

Keep your medical insurance up to date. Those accidents are very expensive and all too common. Almost everyone I know that rides a motorbike extensively has been in the hospital at least once. :(

    Viore HD 1080p 60HZ lc40vf80 for 389 at costco?

720p plasma TVs are still made just as 720p LCD TVs are. In the 40" size you can typically buy both 720 or 1080 types at different points. Depending on viewing distance you may not need 1080 anyway, though I would not buy any TV for use as a monitor if it did not contain a true 1920x1080 panel.

Yes, it is at high altitude and a bit further north. It gets quite cold in the winter. There was ice all over the place when we were there in March one time.

    Viore HD 1080p 60HZ lc40vf80 for 389 at costco?

I recall somebody (DD?) also had a TV with a pixel count that was not really what it claimed to be. Viewing distance should not be related to any of your observations. Leaning on it may not be so good for the panel, but effects are usually transitory.

    Case for a Gigabyte G1.Assassin

A slow 120 or 140mm intake fan on the drives is about all you need to keep them cool. Of course there needs to be at least one exhaust fan, but the directed flow onto the drives is more important to them than having a huge flow through the whole case. My case has four fans, all running at a...

    Viore HD 1080p 60HZ lc40vf80 for 389 at costco?

Well it is is cheap. Whether that is a good deal is subject to interpretation. :) I'm not familiar with that brand and the only reference to the model seems to be at that retailer. Most of the name brand TVs are about $600. I guess Violare may be using LG or similar panels, but somehow...

I have the massive UPS on the computers and five other ones, but no generator. According to the website it is estimated to be two more hours. The cable is completely out too. Lack of A/C will be a killer if this continues.

    Need an Amp

I picked up the power saving surge protector with 8 outlets and plugged it into the UPS. I suppose it should be the other way, but the UPS output is OK. I don't know. Were you suggesting only a surge protector with a better design and higher rating? I'd not waste a fancy one on the TV setup in the living room.

The TV draws roughly 130-150W depening on the brightness of the scene. I have no idea if it is less than 1W with the power off.
