    Jobs is dead

It's intersting that many people saw it on the tech sites, not the new sites. I think practically every site had something about the deceased Jobs in only some minutes.

    Steve Jobs is no more.

"Steve's brilliance, passion and energy were the source of countless innovations that enrich and improve all of our lives," Apple's board said in a statement. "The world is immeasurably better because of Steve" :hurl: I know my life is not any better because there is an iPod or an iPhone or...

    Evil Empire

It seems that in forums everyone is acting like he was the second coming. It is rather sucky that a marketing dude is so revered, but that is modern culture I guess.

I'm not surprised. He looked sickly for years. All that money can't defeat the grim reapers.

Same thing. I have to update Adobe 50-100 times per year anyway, since every time I restore the C: image it happens again in a few hours. :(

Can I assume it will ask for an update automatically when needed?

Linksys E4200 134.99 at local Costco

Is Costco a large supplier of wireless routers? It's not the first place i'd think to look for them.

    Best movie you've seen

Thanks. I've accumulated a small pile of the Blue discs, but I never get around to playing them. Only the TV in the living room is 10800 and has the BR player connected.

I already have three. :) Unfortunately the one used as the boot drive is unbearably slow for some reason. :(

    Best movie you've seen

Meh. That one was only passable and did not compare to the best submarine film ever made, Das Boot. I wonder if the orginal German version was ever on the Blue Rays. It was 30 years ago already, sheesh.

    Best movie you've seen

I don't know for sure, but I assumed we were about the same. Technically I would have been included in the target demographic, but in the mid-late 70s I was much more interested in foreign films or something more intellectual.

SSDs - State of the Product?

I'm sure that large companies would rather buy Intel or Micorn/Crucial and not split hairs over performance of individual drives.

    Recommendations on USB memory sticks?

That must have been a much older WD (early Raptor?) to have such low capacity, but I thought it was 18GB.

New motherboard supports 288GB of RAM

What would you use that for personally? Of course the drives are limited to OS/apps and limited storage because there is the assumption of a SAN.

SR too. I am underwhelmed and still waiting for the Intel 720 (PCIe version).

    To iPhone or Not ?

For now, my vehicle does not have the GPS active and I never have the cell phone turned on except when using it. They know where I am in the airports anyway when checking in for a flight. So basically there are a bunch of dots to connect.

New motherboard supports 288GB of RAM

I always had the impression that Greg played a few games, downloaded tons of videos from disreputable sources, and watched them on cheap Costco TV displays. I don't think he was using heavy computing for databases or scientific modeling, etc. I could be wrong...

I thought most Lucas products were heavy handed and ludicrous, geared toward adolescents or those with arrested development.

Big surprise. They will sell every iota of info for a profit, how you drive, where you park, etc. I'm sure law enforcement and politicos love it.

Televisions as monitors: What are you using, and why?

I had only $100-150 budget for the bathroom TV. Now If I had enough money, maybe I could have a toilet installed in the den instead. :non:

SSDs - State of the Product?

I imagine write performance would be good, but read performance would be slow most of the time and fast only if the data happens to be in the SSSD.

What about service? Does OCZ treat the enterprise customers better than they do the peasants buying a few Z-Drives on the internet?

    CPU fan/heatsink

OK. That is what I use for the 980X at 4.3MHz. I'm sure there are better coolers, but I don't run at 100% very long or often and it is quiet enough at idle.
