After working with SSDs, I have no doubt that the primary hard drive of my next laptop will be one. So unless the laptop supports 2 internal drives, there will be an external along for the ride on photo trips (and which trips aren't photo trips ;)).

If I were in need of massive, fast, portable storage; I would be taking a close look at this. A Pair of 500GB 2.5" drives in RAID-0 connected by USB 2.0. Very sexy indeed.

WINE does very nicely with Photoshop. I can't get it to run in Server 2003 (because I can't get SP2 installed), but in WINE 1.0 in Ubuntu 8.04 it does very nicely.

Yup. And I like mine much sharper than most. The part that is jarring for me is the ring around the back of the head caused by the noise being sharpened.

When I get my 20D back from repairs (which won't likely happen before I send it in for repairs), I'll do some comparisons myself.

I would have just a little, probably picked the white shirt in the bottom of the image as a white point. Actually, I just stopped for a minute to play with it, and there is no way to cool the image down without making the hair in the foreground blue.

I'm waiting for my LowePro Deluxe Waistbelt to arrive, and if it fits, I'll be out walking around with 30 lbs on my hips for the afternoon. I did just pass 217lbs (BMI 27.9), so I am not happy.

Considering nVidia's history of shortcutting standards, I wouldn't be too surprised.

The built in cleaning sensor can't do stuff that was attached with moisture. I've already had a speck stuck to the sensor on the 450D. I've been using a brush with good success.

My RAW files are averaging 16.4MB a piece. That means about 220 shots on a 4GB card. That is an afternoon for me, which would do fine, but I really don't like changing cards. Using 8GB cards means I don't need to carry spares for a day. I know Lunar likes to keep the number of shots per card...

I only have one add-in card, but it takes ~15 seconds for it to detect all the arrays. That is by far the bulk of the boot time.

Now that I'm dual-booting, uptime rarely exceeds 2 hours. Fortunately, booting to an SSD makes it tolerable ;)
