IMHO, you went a bit overboard on the contrast. I'm not saying it looks bad, it just looks significantly different than the original.

Right in the middle of an HDR pano, an exposure set output RAW files with resolution of 3485x2348 instead of the usual 4272x2856. The pano was a total of 33 shots (11x3) and only one set of three right in the middle was smaller. WTF? Any ideas?

Moving Exchange Emails to Google Apps

I find GMail's spam filtering to be the best anywhere. The spam folder is visible from the main interface (even through IMAP!) and I get one spam a day, with one false-positive a month. I've migrated several clients to it (3-15 users) and they all love it. All we need now is an IMAP-like...

Well, technically I was only out for an hour. Then I went and won a sailboat race (the first in my new boat, woo!). I still haven't gotten the nerve to break out the camera while racing, but those would be awesome shots.

Seconded. Though with the lower resolution of stuff viewed over the web (Netflix, etc), I would suggest a projector instead; it is lower resolution, but it is still better than the online stuff.

Best Present for 1st time builder

Case or video card, I'm leaning towards case. It is the part that most first-time builders don't give enough significance to, and it will last the longest. It is also the only part where real aesthetic decisions can be made, allowing for a more personal gift.

SSDs use more power than disk?

Seconded. I haven't measured the power output, but it all becomes heat, and they run much cooler than 2.5" drives.

Very amusing. It brings up an interesting hypothetical. If the entire universe were instantly completely eliminated, everything all at once ceasing to exist, would it really matter? Would you really care? Does it count as murder? Pollution? Me? Don't care one way or another. If you put the...

What's the best wireless router these days?

I'm using a Linksys WRT350N with the dd-WRT firmware and am very happy with it. It does torrenting much better than the stock firmware, and has Gigabit and 802.11N.

That is an EF-S 10-22 @ 10mm f8. But it is actually 16 pictures. The only way to get the dynamic range was to HDR it, and I was also trying to get higher DOF, so I combined 4 different focal lengths (each with it's own HDR set). That makes some bits of it blurry, but I like that the leaves in...

    Mobo and CPU upgrade

I'm still a fan of Gigabyte, but I am currently running an XFX board (the only one made with the features I needed). I'm also told that Intel makes very stable (and not overclockable) boards. I'm not up to speed on motherboards, but this looks like a fine choice.

    Mobo and CPU upgrade

Nope. The top-end chips don't have as much wiggle room as the low-end chips. The bin concept typically means that as a process matures, more and more chips are capable of premium speeds (and are therefore sold as lower speed to maintain supply), but it doesn't mean that there is more headroom...

I shot on a tripod; there is no way I could keep the exact shooting position while changing focus. Tips for encoding video DVDs

AutoGK handles a pretty wide range of incoming formats and gives a decent number of output options (final file size, quality, splitting) while keeping it all in a single GUI with a queue feature and logging support. There are other apps that can do it, but this ties all the other apps together...

    Tips for encoding video DVDs

Wow, that is a large file size for standard-def video. I would get the program Auto Gordian Knot (free) to get it into XviD or something else more compact. Even if you wanted virtually no quality loss, you should still be able to get it under 1GB/hour.
