It looks like a somewhat nasty, slow zoom, the 100-400 IS. Definitely it is not the lens of choice for most indoor work, so the scene is probably of a demonstration of some kind. I dunno about the body as so many Canons are similar. I does not look quite round enough for an EOS 1 series.

I'd venture that it will be quite warm judging by the power dissipation (9W idle for IDE and 9.6W for SATA). At 31 dB, the idle noise is also high.

I wish I could help but my experience with an old Oly has been that there is no difference in SM speeds. The uncompressed TIFF format is horribly inefficient and with 128MB max memory the low number of images per card is ridiculous.
