The SR review of the 15K.4 is up and it is disappointing. The MAU crushes it in the workstation tests, but the server benchmarks for both the new Seagate and Fujitsu 15K drives are worse than their predecessors. I have been witing forever (well, 24 months) for a new drive and this is not good...

That sounds like me! Seriously, there is too big a performance difference to ignore and with average file sizes of ~50-200MB, the total number of files per partition is not that many.

I think the cost of cache is relatively little compared to making a 5-platter drive. The 3-platter 7200.8 will be much less expensive to produce than the 7K400, so prices of 400GB drives will decrease after a while. I am not comfortable with drives from NewEgg. Do they still package hard...

I have a PS/2 KVM switch that connects two systems. My old PS/2 mouse was dying, so I replaced it with a USB mouse and PS/2 adapter. However, the mouse is not recognized. Is this typical behaviour for a USB mouse and adapter on a KVM switch? Thanks.

DI6 (2002) creates two floppies and True Image 6 creates four boot floppies. I don't kow about the newer Acronis products. Unfortunately the DI7 image file format is not compatible with previous versions of DI.
