Yes, it is has been assembled rather badly, either with poor software or because the separate frames were not taken from the proper position.

    Samsung 256GB SSD, world's fastest?

I'd be happy to buy a 32GB version of that flash drive today for $1000, but it does not yet exist. :( Hard drives are fine for larger capacities. Now I have over 20TB of HDs - not exactly affordable in flash drives.

Well some women are attractive models and some aren't, asian or not. Oh man, I could tell a story about the consequences of using the word horrid in a photographic situation. :D

    Samsung 256GB SSD, world's fastest?

OK, that was poorly worded as a result of an edit. Of course the woman was not holding the horrid background. The point is that the advert sucks on a couple of levels. Maybe they sourced the job to the lowest bidder. ;)

    Compact Printer

I need a compact inkjet printer to replace an older dead one. Most of the printers I checked in the store this weekend had extraneous functionality such as a fax/scanner or had a bulky paper tray. Due to space constraints the printer must have a very small footprint, typically the type with a...

    Samsung 256GB SSD, world's fastest?

Yeah, sure, it will be out RSN. :dunno: Meanwhile, where is the 500GB Sprinpoint M6? What is up with the unpleasant-looking woman awkwardly holding the flash drive and the horrid background? They are distracting and take focus from the device.

SSDs - State of the Product?

SSDs is the plural of SSD. It is not possessive in this case and therefore does not take the apostrophe.

Dare I ask why you used HDR for a snapshot under such conditions? The f/11 shot more accurately represents the scene and is sharper with less color artifacts.

I assumed Uda was looking for perspective correction (shift) in the 24mm range. There is generally enough DOF. The 45 TSE is somewhat in between in tilt vs. shift utility, whereas the 90 TSE is primarily used with tilt to increase DOF. But who knows the logic.

SSDs - State of the Product?

After the primary RAM drive and RAM disk are full CPU drops to only ~10% on one Raptor - the old one. Seeks are heavy, so transfer rate is obviously not linear. I don't want this hitting the boot drive either. Of course the new Velociraptors are not cheap for RAID either.

SSDs - State of the Product?

I am confused with all of the SSDs. Which 32GB drive will provide at least 100MB/sec. writes at lowest cost? Ptgui is killing me with 20GB of temp files. Thanks.

Nikon lenses will fit on Canon EOS bodies with an adapter but not the other way around. I don't know if there is a specific mechanical issue with TS lenses or not.
  17. LunarMist

    dSLR thread

True. The 24 TSE is not so great, but has a specific niche for perspective correction. It is a relatively old design that could be improved today. You should be able to use the new Nikon 28/3.5 PC-E on a Canon body with an adapter. Presumably that lens is better.

Assuming you mean the 300/2.8 IS, that is not quite so from corner to corner. f/5.6 is a very nice aperture for that lens. Of course it is very fine at f/2.8 for sports, PJ, etc. to isolate the subject, and it is often used on bodies with cropped sensors. Ironically I have barely used the...

It's not really doing anything for my notebook, probably because it already has similar software pre-installed. I guess this would be useful for clean installs or some notebooks sold without power saving software.

    Travelstar 7k320 ships(soon)$220?

What is that with, a 40D? My files are averaging 28MB at ISO 100 and rather more at higher ISOs. I try to maintain ISO 100 whenever possible though.

    Travelstar 7k320 ships(soon)$220?

I guess that should be closer to 30MB files. 173 GB were consumed in less than a week. What can one do but carry a pile of five 320GB drives for a 3-weeker? Bring on the 500GB drives!

I use the 70-200/4 IS more and more compared to the 70-200/2.8 IS that tends to sit in the closet. The former is the 4th of the four existing Canon 70-200s (I've owned at least one copy of each at various times) and optically the best. It performs exceedingly well on the demanding 1Ds MK III...

Argh! Why would you shoot a landscape or cityscape at ISO 3200? Such subjects usually demand maximum detail/minimum noise and often benefit extensively from PP which exacerbates noise. I use ISO 100 for almost all landscapes, increasing ISO only if foliage is moving in the wind or there is...

    ST $699 120GB SSD (MLC)

Reads are 120 and writes are only 40, which is typical for the MLC flash used. That might work well enough for OS/applications if the user does not actually create substantial content.
