No, my head is fine. I have some other problems, though. :(
Don't you think that WD will produce 4-platter 7200 RPM drives later this year? I'm not expecting anything from Samsung, and who else is there?
safe enough for a normal user to implement? I'm hoping to avoid Windows 7 for about 13-15 months if my computer can hold out.
Meanwhile we are getting new computers at work in the next two weeks. It will be Vista for 3-4 years; such bad timing. :(
I thought it would be either to use the internal features of the forum. It's not like a 34KB PNG file is breaking the bandwith. Of course I could host images somwhere else, but I don't want to maintain them for the life of the SF forum. As well, the host site could change and links would...
Is is it possible to increase the file size limit for attachments or is that set by vBulletin? For example, large jpegs are allowed yet many file types are limited to 19.5KB. For screenshots and similar content I prefer to post a clean png instead of a big and/or ugly jpg.
#^!@ It must be some special problem with the motherboard or controllers.
TI 2009 also crashes the whole computer and reboots in XP64, so I have to use the USB version.
Oh. I don't want to align anything. I just want to improve performance at the hardware level every few months, or is that not necessary with the Intel X25-M G2? OCZ SSDs are too complicated and too much hassle. A 32GB X25-E would solve short-term needs (remainder of 2009), but it is too small...
I probably have a 2003 Sony external floppy drive around somewhere, but that Mickey Mouse alignment procedure is not reasonable for routine use. I'm having zero issues with the X25-E slowing down after 9 months of operation. I do not trust the Vortex drives to be as trouble free. I don't...
Yeah, everyone knows that is a problem from way back when. ;) I recall that Kodak used to store it underground. Many of us travelled with a couple rolls of P3200 with our slower films to avoid the x-ray scanners at airports. I never actually had any developed.
Amazingly, everything returns to hard drives. And this is the TV thread. :)
I visited the local electronics store and was surprised at the number of TV series for sale on DVD. There were even old ones from decades ago. Prices were rather high. Since when did TV shows on DVD become a big thing?
It's pretty typical for Hibachi to achieve the maximum capacity at 7200 RPM with 5 platters before other manufacturers, skipping intermediate sizes along the way. Everyone else will probably do it with 4 platters in Q4. At least that should drive prices down eventually.
Don't get hung up on the specs. You'd think that the cheaper Canons like the 50D and 5D II have good AF based on paper, but they don't compare to 1D series most of the time. 1D III has a whole other AF issue, but you know about that.
I watched a few recent episodes this past week. That is some weird sh*t! Is it worth viewing from the beginning seasons? (And no, I'm not concerned about a bit of nudity here and there.)
Yet the ST9640322AS is faster in a different enclosure. Weird. This Seagate is the noisiest seeking and spinning 5400RPM 2.5" drive I've used in years:(, and I have quite a few. Here's to hoping that WD will step up to the plate with an alternative.
What does that mean? 1v, EOS 3, 1D and others all have the same basic AF sensor. 1v is a bit faster than the 3, primarily for tracking, but otherwise I did not notice differences.
Instead of so many different low-end bodies, why not pick up a 1v? A few years back when I moved from Nikon to Casnon I had two EOS 3 and one 1vHS bodies. The PB-E2 is less necessary on the EOS 3 though, because it has a better advance rate without the booster. It's nice to have the option...
Oh great. I already sliced my finger on the packaging. Who designs these awful 4-layer blister things?
The drive is identified as being made in China. :pale:
Interesting, but I don't know how relevant that is to my situation. Access times are definitely more important than STR sometimes. If I were to run a RAID 0 configuration, it would be with SSDs. There is no space internally for 3.5" hard drives nor do I have interest in more external arrays...
I don't understand why the X25-E is not being upgraded to the newer memory until 2010. Even if performance is the same, wouldn't production be less costly? How much effort does it take to update the associated components? Maybe they have a stockpile of unsold materials?
Perhaps so. It looks like WD is going into SAS and also taking advantage of recent Seagate failures.

The comic books or magazines were not very sexy when I was 8, or perhaps we were too naive to think of that back then. ;) I remember Mad, horror, and superhero comics. I confess not to liking that sort of thing, preferring books instead.
