I have one of the 500GB 7200.4 which was used for 46 hours in a computer and then pulled for the larger drive. Now the 7200.4 is destined for the heap-o-drives. :(

In 2007 (or early 2008?) I sent in a rebate for several cards and never received anything. Then last June I bought 3x8GB EX3 30 MB/sec. and was expecting to receive a $120 rebate card. I received only $40 and finally threw it in the trash. F*ck them. Rebate ripoffs are not worth my time.

Time is running out. The 750GB drive is deactivated for some reason. Viable options are only the external Seagate 640GB 9.5mm and external WD 750GB 12.5 mm. Should I just buy more of the Seagates and rip the drives out? Are there any reliablity problems with them?

I use the 16GB size, because what will be needed in the next generations (even now with the D3X). I think they are about $200 without a rebate. I don't bother to send in the SanDisk rebates, since they ripped me off twice. (I refuse to send in any other rebates either.)

I had to buy the fancy remote years ago in a store because I had left the simple one at home. Being so bulky it is a PITA. My remotes always get beaten up heavily from dragging on the ground. I only used it for the one week and never again. I don't buy anything on ebay due to the payment...

    USB 2.0 enclosure drive upgrade

PATA is not very economical now, so I'd start all over. The 2.5" type are fine for backups if huge capacity is not needed. I have a small army of the WD Passports, etc., but USB 2.0 speed is getting old.

No. The modem is connected to a simple 4-port switch and that is connected to 2-4 computers (primary, secondary and rarely up to two notebooks). There is a separate cable between the primary and secondary computers. I'm only interested in the primary computer internet as it receives the vast...

    Netbook for the wife

I have purchased four Acer noetbooks over the years and none had/have display problems. The last one was about 2 1/2 years ago, so maybe they are getting worse. The appeal of the 1410, or 1810 etc., is the low cost for the size. For occasional consumer use I think they should be sufficient...

I think one of the four drives of the second batch is defective, but it is strange. Do I need to prove anything or just return it? I've never had anything replaced, only returned for refund -15%. How slow is the replacement process?

SSDs - State of the Product?

Well of course I meant the random writes. Question is always how sequential are the large writes as the drive fills or ages. Have you compared both?

SSDs - State of the Product?

I recall in one of those umpteen links a test showed that the X25-M G2 was better at writes than similar drives, 30MB/sec. vs. 10MB/sec. Maybe it was in a dream.

Not quote sure why you would get that one. Don't you have the EyeOne Display 2, or was that someone else? MacBeth/Xrite is the industry standard with much broader use. Does your monitor support the Spyder directly or do you have to apply profiles at the video card level?
