Sure, that is an appropriate use. Mainly it is a cheap way to achieve good HD and the shallow DOF look of cinema with fast glass.

1D MK IV looks not too shaby. I'll probably get one and then dispose of some other bodies. I'd rather have 1Ds MK IVs, but that will probably be a year away.

I have one of the Intel models - not sure which one. Performance seems about the same as the onboard port, but I'm just copying files between machines.

It is a big deal for me. External hard drives must be powered by the notebook USB ports and PSDs must be powered and charged through the ports or the interface is useless.

Are they retired or otherwise not working full time?

You'll need it eventually for PS and DPP, unless you freeze in time.

That is fine for the most part, but I'm sure XP application and driver support will eventually dwindle. I am dual-booting XP32 and XP64 for now. My secondary system still has Win2k. :)

How much does that one cost?

When it is necessary to support apps that won't run in XP. That may be 2011on the dekstop. I may need to get as notebook in 2010 and that would probably be W7 without any other choices.

Ooops, I'm a little late. At 72000 RPM do you trust a Seagate more than a Hitachi or WD? Can I assume that the XT will negotiate back to 3.0Gb/s?

It's only a P/S. The sensor or lens or both are not really up to par. We need an APS-C sensor in one of them.

Why? They work just fine for the 10-30 seconds that the fridge is usually open. A string of built-in LEDs might be a good idea as they would light a larger area more evenly.

At work we receive e-mails faster through the Blackberry than the computer. What difference does a few seconds make anyway? It's like people have OCD, checking Blackberries constantly.

I'd rather have one simple device in a slot. It's nice that there are no SATA cables, power cables, etc. and HD bays are open.
