I'm not sure that is true. Did you actually try it? Have you considered converting the NEFs to DNGs and just working in PS?

SSDs - State of the Product?

I don't see the good old X25-E. Maybe some people need 1TB of SSD, but the controllers are limiting the performance. In couple of years we will be buying faster, simpler SATA 3.0 1TB drives like getting a cup of coffee.

SAS: CARDS, ETC. WORTH THE MONEY?

But are the individual OCZ drives slower than the G2? Striping is not an option. I'm finding the G2 rather slow compared to the year old X25-E due to the slow writes.

You may be able to obtain some legacy components like that at reduced prices. That could be considered an incentive for budget- conscious consumers.

    8-port hardware raid

OK, I don't know jack about the servers and thought that perhaps the low profile cards were not perpendicular to the motherboard (on their sides). Which angle is involved?

I'm just being sarcastic, given the original G2 price and availability clusterf*ck. ;)

SAS is like SATA unless you are working with a bunch-o-drives and controllers.

SSDs - State of the Product?

Yeah, right. The drives will be out of stock or the price increased or something. Anyway, I'm not so impressed with the X25-M G2. I'll wait for the X25-E G2.

SSDs - State of the Product?

Do any of you use the 2.5" to 3.5" HD carriers for SSDs? I'll be traveling in a few weeks and I'd like to bring an X25-E along, but it must be adapted to a trayless standard 3.5" bay on site.

    Cheap Color Laser Printer

How do you know the status of the cartridge/tank? Is the printer psychic? Do you wait until one of 8 tanks is out and ruining expensive, time consuming prints? Sorry, I just don't see any better alternatives.

SAS: CARDS, ETC. WORTH THE MONEY?

I run up to 17 drives from the one machine, so I could use one of those 8+ port controllers, but the cost has been prohibitive. With the SAS 6Gb and faster SSDs next year, I'm with Pradeep on waiting.

    Better Monitor

Strange you should mention it. I viewed an Artisan about 1.5 years ago. I remembered the beautiful colors and consistency of the CRT, but was surprised how blurry the image was. Then I remembered why I never got one. Those 21" monitors were too large for me to handle.

    Better Monitor

They are no longer made, having been replaced with a newer model 2 that some are not so happy about. Perhaps I should have gone with the LCD2490WUXi last year, but their flagship 30" was such a dud times two that it left a bad taste. The $100 extra on the Eizo probably is $500 for the name...

    A belated ZipZoomFly rant

I have the EP35-DS3R and EP45-UD3P. There are so many similar models for Core 2 CPUs I don't know the differences. I mainly got the EP45 board because I could not get over 4GHz with a quad core on the EP35. The EP35 is fine for dual core at 4.2, but lacked the LLC of the EP45...

I'm confused. You are doing something for a not for profit org, receiving multiple videos and using crappy software? I'd think it would make most sense to work with the providers to find a solution. Do you work on documentaries or similar?

Sure, but I have not a clue about that. The procedure is not difficult, but it did not work for me. Perhaps I was using the wrong registry code or driver. Did you follow the procedere for the ICH10R? The part of the thread I read was for the ICH9R.

Yes I did that already. Here is the board in question. I wish it had two PCIe 1x slots. I don't need the two old-fashioned PCI slots.
  49. LunarMist

    Small build

The computer does not display anything (black screen at POST) with a 1x PCIe card in the 16x slot. Is that normal for a system that has integrated video? Being a µATX motherboard, it has only one 1x PCIe slot so I was hoping to use the 16x as well, but not for a video card.
