    Small build

The main system takes well over a minute before it gets past all the BIOS screens and then begin to load the OS. However, booting is rather fast on the small system with only three hard drives and one add-in controller.

There is nothing wrong with the 5D MK II. It has been one of the most reliable Canon cameras introduced recently. The 5D MK II suffers from average peripheral AF performance and a lame AF pattern like the 5D before it. It is a weak choice for action.

I don't want to use the Hibernation, since that requires an extra 3GB and it appears impossible to move from c: to another partition.

    Fastest single core?

The first question I would ask ask is how much does it matter? Was a proper assessment of user requirements performed before the application was approved and implemented? Or this a case of inheriting some old junk that you must support?

It may need a better heat sink. Temps for the two cores are 58/63 °C at 76% CPU after about 20 minutes and 5-7 °C higher at 100%. Is that OK?

800 lm is for living in a cave. There should be brighter LED replacements for E26/27 lamps in loving rooms for example. That is not to mention how one replaces the 4 x F32T8 ceiling fixtures.

I have an E8600 very stable at 4.2GHz with a moderate heatsink. I'd expect the CPU to run at reasonable temps if only one core is used.

The 1D MK IV is a wildlife body. I may sell the practically unused 5D II, since I have the pair of 1Ds MK III bodies. You are correct that the 5D II MK is better for videos due to the FF, unless one is working in very low light. On video one can get away with many less-than-stellar fast...

I have one of the old disposable, pay-as-you-go phones. It is fine for me, but the battery is dying so I will have to get something newer. iPhone would be way out of my price range and the batteries are not removable unless something has changed.
