    Tool to track storage prices

Cost/GB is far less meaningful to me than seeing actual prices for specific capacity and model drives. I might think differntly if I were building a huge server.

    iPod>iPhone>iPad

If that offer no longer exists I don't see how that can be a valid comparison today. Many consumers only look to buy new phones when their contracts are up or nearly so.

    Drive Failure?

Oh crap, it is one of the 2TB drives. :blue: The error is that the device "disappeared from the system without first being prepared for removal." Is that possibly a power supply or connector problem?

    Drive Failure?

I don't know if the motherboard controls the hard drives. I suppose the drives may happen to be connected to the motherboard or they could be on one of three add-in controllers. Does an old OS like XP or XP64 support SMART?

    Drive Failure?

I think one hard drive is dying because the computer is locking up frequently. :crap: It is a terrible situation. The problem is that I have too many drives. How can I easily determine where the defect is without testing each drive individually?

i7 920 Motherboard and operating system?

Here we go again. I agree with Pradeep. Build a new system with a 6Gbps SATA RAID controller and you will be set for a while.

    Heatsink Needed

LGA775 is needed now, but it could be nice to use a cooler on another CPU later. If the bracket is unlikely to interfere with anything that migth be fine. If it is necessary to apply calibrated torque to each bolt, that is probably not the best option. My hand is not in the best shape either...

It is a special fan on on rubber mounts.

    Heatsink Needed

The fan on the heatsink is making noises when it first starts up, and that is usually the beginning of the end. :( Now I'm searching for a new one. Main criteria are best cooling for O/C, no blocking of motherboard components, and replaceable fan. I can live with some noise in a case with 10...

Nichia Develops 60 Lumen Per Watt White LED

I'd prefer better CRI and lower temps with flashlights. I don't care about streetlights much, but one should be able to see the faces of muggers clearly enough.

    >500GB Drives

Why do you use 7200 RPM USB drives? The 500GB 7200.4 is a disappointment, being barely faster than a good 500GB 5400 RPM drive.

    >500GB Drives

I've had no problems with 2.5" USB-powered drives in many years, and that is with a dozen 500-640GB drives including 7200RPM. The last drives that caused me grief were the 100GB and 120GB Seagate IDE types.

    >500GB Drives

Since when has the 640GB Samsung been available? It's only been at Newegg today or maybe yesterday. I wonder if Samsung can cram 3x~333GB platters in a 9.5 mm drive similarly to their first 500GB drive?

I'm not having difficulty with the video changing and I don't think the OS is involved. When both PCs are off the switch remains wherever it was last (1 or 2). Let's say it is #1 for example. The issue is that when computer #2 is booted the switch stays at#1 and must be changed manually to...

Tony, I believe that Uda was the Mac fanatic, but most people have him blocked out. I'm sure you have read all the (deservedly) derogatory bashing of the iPad. :) Flash is awful, but can one do? I have switched to Foxit at least.
