OCZ's Vertex Limited Edition SSD: $399 for best-in-class write speeds, only 5,000 ava

Interesting. Maybe it's just that I'd never heard of OCZ until 2008 or so. The name is horrid when pronounced, which does not help.

Damned Dell notebook is kaput. Now it will take forever to have it repaired wherever they send it. It was easier before the IT help was outsourced. :(

OCZ's Vertex Limited Edition SSD: $399 for best-in-class write speeds, only 5,000 ava

Who are they anyway and what do they do, manufacturing or design? Has OZC been around over ten years or are they some new flash in the pan that will go under once other established companies develop better/cheaper products?

I've been running quad cores for several years on XP. You may be thinking of Win2K, which could not distinguish physical from logical cores. Of course I agree to Win7 being a logical choice.

Sure, all TV should be HD. However, the programming is only partially in HD and it costs more to watch the same crap. Maybe I will get HD when everything is eventually 100% HD and the cost is the same.

That is good service, although one would expect them to know about it automatically. I don't know what kind of system my cheapie phone uses. It is fine most of the time, but in remote areas of Nevada, New Mexico, Arizona, Utah, etc. there is no signal. :(

SSDs - State of the Product?

I received the basic X25M G2 in a small brown box with no spacers or anything but an instruction leaflet. It is about 7mm or so compared to the standard 9.5mm notebook drive.

The OCZ is rather bulky. Is that normal? The Intel SSDs are much smaller.

I would need two arrays, one for data and another equal one for the backups. Are there differences in 2TB drives on arrays? I recall that WD sells specific models for RAID at substantially higher prices. Are Hitachi and Samsung, Seagate, etc. all the same?

SSDs - State of the Product?

I received that OCZ (what a disgusting name). It is just so-so in performance, being slower than the X25-M and slower yet than the X25-E. Of course that is fine in absolute terms. I have not found any defects yet, so it will be utilized in the backup computer as the boot drive to replace an...
