So they are engineers of a kind? I'm too far out of the loop.
I was interviewed once by a guy that asked an odd question about separating a mixture of liquids and three kinds of solids. The correct answer was irrelevant. Apparently they just wanted some logical attempt to show brain...
I have two of the XS LCD 1300 units. How is the RS different from the XS LCD? The features you mentioned are similar. I thought the RS was just an update of the XS.
There are a few ULV i7 CPUs in the 12"/3 lb. class notebooks, but they are expensive and native speed is not fast. Effectiveness of Turboboots is dependent on hardware and usage.
Is it possible to replace the motherborad without buying new operating systems?
Meanwhile we are stuck here with only the old 4.2GHz system that has almost no hard drives and a minimal installation.
I had too many SILENT DATA CORRUPTION issues with FW 800 as well as the occasional delayed write failures. I don't think it is critical to your situation anyway, because something else is a bottleneck. FW400 is good for 40 MB/sec. sustained. Did you try another FW cable?
It is just a hobby for me nowadays. ;) The 5D II was only used for testing about a year ago and I never really liked it. In basic experiments it became obvious that AF tracking accuracy and the tiny diamond area would be unacceptable for following and composing the cheetahs or even lions, so I...
What a bunch of idiots! So one must still work tethered while the battery pack recharges or carry around one of the oversized, inefficient, external 3rd-part packs.
Then after the battery loses capacity after a couple of years it requires service to replace.
With only 4GB of RAM, a 64-bit OS will do very little if anything better than a 32-bit one and I doubt that you need 8GB in a notebook. However, it doesn't hurt much if your apps work properly.
I much prefer the newest reply to be on top. It is too difficult to scroll through 18 pages of messages over 2 years and 8 people to find what I want, especially on the BlackBerry.
I don't know the films. In the late 60s early 70s MI was the show I watched on Saturday nights. Some people liked the Landau-McBain pair, though I did not care so much.
The younger folk will probably go for that. However, I sit at an ergonomic workstation if I am on the PC. I don't want to be balancing a tablet on my knees, reading in bed or working in other inefficient, uncomfortable modes.
It is a good question and timely for me as well. I'm still using Oulook on a couple of systems, but am also in need of a new e-mail app on one machine since Office activation is gone.
I don't use PATA SSDs. I mentioned that there was still some development in that area.
I'm not running a server from the laptop, so the demands are not so high. ;) I also don't place much stock in the scaling of STR benchmarks. IOMeter random reads/writes are a better, but still rough...
WTF the Passmark is I don't know/care, but I seriously doubt that a 30 minute job on your current computer will be done in about 3 minutes on the new one. I have not delved into how well the turbo boosters work in a notebook, but there are usually limitations on battery power if decent run time...
