Of course. The 170-500 was not a good lens. The old 50-500 without OS was much better. :brilsmurf: I recall that Roger C. posted some ISO test charts when he started renting the lens.

Surely 640GB drives would work as well. Why would one want such an overpriced little device unless space is really tight?

    iPhone syndrome

The display is rather small for a GPS. I prefer separate devices for automotive use. A GPS is cheap and doesn't need to be replaced frequently. However, I don't have a need for walking around with an automotive style GPS though I sometimes use a trail GPS.

It is from 50-100 and from 400-500. ;) The issues are the magnification needed and subject distance.

I assume you meant the 300/4 IS vs. the 400/5.6. The original 300/4 is my favorite on FF, but has not been made since the 1990s. Nevertheless, the 100-400 would be more appropriate for your style. The 300/4 is more suited to lower light and shorter reach conditions, whereas the 400/5.6 is...

    So...how was the weather today?

Last week was awful. Hauled around $25K in gear, drove over 1800 miles, flew over 3K miles so far and it was less productive than any week in nearly ten years. Temperatures ranged from 25 - 104 °F, including rain, hail and snow in different states. F*ck the weather.

Televisions as monitors: What are you using, and why?

I could not handle wearing glasses and then 3D goggles on top of that. I foresee headaches after a while. Does everyone just stare at the TV continuously for hours? How does one look around the room at other objects/people, or check the computer? :colors:

Sometimes it is difficult for me to determine whether a woman is pregnant. I was so sure this time, but apparently she had just gained weight in the abdomen. Is it just me? Perhaps I should not have said anything in a public setting. :o

It's one reason that I mainly photograph outside of the US. I only open the camera bag in the US in an area where photography is accepted, such as national/state parks or BLM land, and never aim a lens at humans. Always give over the memory cards when asked.

    stopping the spammers

In other forums the previous versions of edited messages are typically available through a link so that the interested viewer san see what changes were made. It is a fair compromise.
