3D Viewing Monitors (No Spectacles Required)

Several makers were showing these off at the SID show in Baltimore this year. Only the super high res LCDs (3200x2400) looked good. The 3d plasmas were crappy looking.

Terminator 2 in Hi Def, upgrade your CPU

That's not entirely true. CRT projectors with 3 9" guns can do it. As can some of the new TFT LCD TVs from Samsung and LG.Philips. Also, Sony's new line of CRT tubes coming out this summer have increased resolution to true 1920x1080. LCOS and Sony's SXRD projection technology can do...

    Not your Father's Cadillac

But that's just it Mr. Tek. An engine is an airpump. Power is all about burning fuel and air. If they're both making 400HP they've using equivalent amounts of fuel. It's thermodynamics and physics. Judging from your comments apparently you didn't pay much attention in those two classes if...

    Not your Father's Cadillac

The automotive press has just lambasted the Ion for being a cheap POS. I had read somewhere that the turbo version would only have about 170HP. I did a little web searching and it seems it's listed as having about 200HP. Either way I've not heard positive things about the Ecotech engine from...

    Not your Father's Cadillac

Ahhh... the sounds of ignorance. I hate to break it to you, but the fuel economy is generally not related to the displacement of the engine, but more to the amount of power it produces. Assuming an engine is reasonably well tuned (not running rich or lean). A 2.0L I4 making 400HP will use...

Apparently someone works for GM. :D My Dad, and two uncles did. Now some of them are retired. Either way GM and Turbo aren't something I want to hear mentioned in the same sentence. A Turbo Saturn Ion? With a screaming 170HP? What are they thinking? Apparently the same thing as Mazda...

FYI: "Canadians are hooked on speed"

I have 1 DHCP address that's very "static" shall we say. Since I wasn't a cable subscriber I had to get it before I could get a cable modem. Just cable modem service is about $80. Basic cable and the cable modem is the same price. So I play $80 for a cable modem + basic cable, but it's still...

baked Apple of a different kind.

I'd guess it's a publicity stunt. I work in the LCD industry and there's about 0 chance the screen would look so good after being in the oven for 20 minutes. The polarizer on the display should have a pile of bubbling and other things wrong with it. Automotive grade LCDs have a critical...

HUGE price drop on some Samsung and NEC monitors

Sure it's a fair comparison. The LG wasn't $200 when I bought it and it was top rated by several places. I've compared my 20" LCD to a 21" Flat CRT and the LCD stomps all over it. My comparison doesn't mention anything about the size. I'm talking about sharpness and brightness. Those aren't...

The LCD is sharper and brighter. The model I have cost $800 shipped and it's got some pretty nice tricks like PiP with the S-video and composite input. A LCD may lack in contrast ratio (depending how you measure it) and absolute black level (again depending how you measure it), but what else...
