To clarify my earlier remarks... Someone who lives in a box on the street and eats out of a dumpster lives in poverty. Someone who is lazy and works a minimum wage job and has a roof over his head, a car, and other essentials, is not living in poverty.

And yet the US has the richest poor of any country. "Poor" people have TVs, Cars, go to movies, can afford clothes, etc. So, exactly how poor are they really?

You can get a 40 gig for $80 or so (which is cheap enough for what I want), and with gigabit ethernet to a 1TB RAID-5 array in a server speed doesn't matter all that much.

Generally, DTS is regarded as being better sounding. Whether there's any actual basis for this is questionable. DD could have a more sophisticated compression algorithm. Generally I think DTS soundtracks "sound better" because more attention was payed to details when making them.

Oh, one more thing. It needs to be PATA, not SATA.

I'm looking for the quietest HD I can get to put in my HTPC (idle is more important than seek). It doesn't need to be big (even only 20 gig would be fine). A cooler running drive would be helpful. I haven't been keeping on top of HDs lately, so what's my best choice?

I apparently have the only broadcasting Access Point within range of my apartment. After seeing my neighbors, I'm not too surprised. I have WEP and MAC address filtering enabled. If I turn off the broadcast one of my two notebooks can't seem to access the network anymore.

I have an older D-link myself. DI-624+ It does the 22Mbps flavor of 802.11b (which of course is no longer supported). The only redeeming thing is that it was $9.99. I am also looking for a new wireless router because my new Dell has 802.11g/b built in and it's painfully slow on the 802.11b...

I don't see the significance. Dell gets their stuff from Ingram Micro just like everyone else. The fact that they're selling AMD stuff in their accessory store that drop ships from Ingram Micro doesn't mean much if you ask me. Call me when they start shipping systems with AMD chips in them.
