In the old days I always used PNG, even for photo TIFFs. It saved about 1/3 of the file size, which was important back in the days of 120 megapixel 6x9 film scans and 80 GB hard drives. :elephant:

I received the other card. RAW is useful to a degree, especially for PP NR. There is about 0.5 to 0.67 EV of highlight recovery possible too.

Yes. I paid $800 for the original 18GB Atlas 10K 11 years ago. It was about a thousand with the non-RAID SCSI card. The 36GB was rather more than that. I also paid $1200 for two 40x 2GB CF cards 7 years ago. :o

:o It may have been oddly copied from an Outlook e-mail link through the clipboard. I have not been to movie in the US theatres for a long time, before DiCarpio. Maybe the film will be on cable in 2011.

I'd be fine with a quad-core 32nm part that OCs to >4Hz, but I don't think that any of them access 6 memory slots.

The digital CLG source (most of the film) has inherently low noise and does not require conversion. Presumably it compresses better as well.

The problem is that is is over engineered, not to mention one of those Paypal deals that does not work for me. I'm wondering about adding tape to at least prevent slippage. I've dropped the camera a couple of times already and have not taken it outside yet. Are there any self-adhesive tapes...

I found the offending drive. On another computer's ICH the SMART data indicates a failed reallocated sector count. :( I'm not sure what data was on the drive and don't have the equipment for drive destruction. What can I do easily to make it practically inoperable? Maybe I could soak it for...

    RAID SSD controller?

I was thinking that using the 32GB drive as one partition would allow larger OS/apps (maybe Win 7?). The RAIDed new drives would then constitute the page/temp, etc. file area (100+GB total). I don't like XP32 per se, but the XP64 doesn't work quite right. A secondary issue is that a few apps...

    RAID SSD controller?

The 32GB X25-E has two partitions, first for the XP32 OS and second for page/temp/small critical file use. The second partition easily overflows on pans/stitching and sometimes in PS. The 80GB X25-M G2 has only the one partition for the XP64 and no page file. It has plenty of free space, but...
