This board is missing some of the typical options of older BIOS's like "Plug and Play OS:" and what not. I can set it to manual instead of automatic for assigning IRQ's and what not. I messed with that a little, but haven't had any sucess with it. I will have to play with those a little more.

Ok, I've done some more testing. With the MIT MyHD card in the system as the only PCI card (all other PCI cards removed) it does the same thing. It locks up while Windows XP is loading. Keeping the MyHD as the only PCI card and replacing the MSI 7900GS with a ASUS 6800GT it does the same...

It runs by and I happened to catch it.

Right before the system boots there is a system device listing by the BIOS. Listing all the devices in the system and what IRQ they're on. Before Windows goes haywire and finds a new device that list has the note at the bottom that it is updated.

The BIOS says it updates the device listing before that happens, so it can't just be the card, or the drivers. I used the card in my last system without any issues for over 1 year.

And, it begins again... Today the system pulled it's new hardware found stunt again. ARGH!!!!

Well, after a clean install of Windows XP the machine seems more cooperative. It will go into standby and hibernate correctly, and so far the Fusion 5 card is behaving itself.

Not sure. I'll have to see if it will hibernate or go into standby. But, otherwise the PC seems to behave even with the Fusion 5 card installed. The Fusion 5 card just doesn't work after a few reboots.

No, the RAM is fine. I ran Goldmemory for hours without issues. I'm not running x64 Windows either. It's like the BIOS keeps changing things on me, or it doesn't like it when Windows tries to reconfigure it. I'm gonna try a fresh install of Windows, but I'm not holding out much hope. Are...

Well, it's all together and working. It runs in the upper 50's under load, which isn't too bad considering there's only 2 120mm Antec Tri-Cool fans running at the slowest speed. Nothing on the Scythe Ninja. I'm gonna put the Zalman VF900-Cu on the 7900GS in a few days.

That's what I was saying. There are a pile of voltages you can adjust. CPU Core, Memory, and all that other stuff. I don't know what voltage he was specifically referring to though.

I knew you would post something like that. I tracked the problem down to some issue related to my MyHD HDTV card. I disabled it in the Windows device manager and now it's working ok.

How do you manually set the speed of your memory? On mine it detects my DDR2 800Mhz memory as 667, and I can't find anywhere in the BIOS how you can manually set the memory speed. I skimmed through the manual, as well and didn't see anything. Ideas?

I found Goldmemory to be far more effective and useful.

In my experience Memtest doesn't find squat. Your memory could be worthless and it still will pass a Memtest

Test your memory with GoldMemory and see what happens. In my experience 9 times out of 10 system instability is caused by memory.

Wouldn't that pull air directly across your CPU HSF? My HSF is on my current system is directly next to both of the two top fans. When I put my new HTPC in that case that would pull air from the top directly across my Scythe Ninja Plus (rev b) and out the back.

Well, I got my HTPC tranplanted over into the P180. Thanks for P5-133XL my HTPC now has a Barton core processor in it, and I put a much larger HSF on it. I can't say that the system is much quieter than it was before. It might be a little quieter, but subjectively it doesn't seem like much...

Well, I got my "new" 7dBi antennas today. I put them on the Linksys, and it definitely increased my signal strength (according to my PC's signal strength meter). I haven't had a chance to test my Roku M500 yet, but I'm optomistic.
