Coolest running SATA Hard Drives 250GB-320GB

According to SilentPCReview the newest WD's are the quietest. I'm not sure about coolest.

    First HTPC

One thing to keep in mind is under Windows XP the full H.264 decoding the on the GF 8500/8600 cards doesn't yet work. They're promising a driver during June to make it work.

    First HTPC

Probably poor... You can't run with 0 airflow and expect reasonable temps. If the case has good ventilation and airflow they probably work great.

    Jumbo Frames?

Find out whose it is, offer to help them secure it, and find out if they'd be willing to split the cost and the BW with you. Then get rid of your connection.

    First HTPC

You don't 2GB of RAM for a HTPC, however given the current pricing of RAM you probably don't save much by dropping to 1GB (512x2). I'd also recommend a more current video card. Either wait for an ATI 2400 or grab an nVidia GF8500. This will allow HD video (HD-DVD or Blu-Ray) to be decoded in...

    Jumbo Frames?

Can you explain a little bit more? Did you put a 2nd NIC in each PC to have two separate networks? Do your two networks talk to each other? It would seem that setting up two VLANs with some sort of bridge between them would be the best course of action. However, a Cisco 2800 series router...

    Jumbo Frames?

So, what is the proper way to make it all work? I have a wireless router that only has 10/100 capabilities for it's wired ports. All my "desktop" PCs (3) have gigabit Ethernet and support jumbo frames. However, they all need at least internet connectivity through the 10/100/wireless router...

Ahh yes... I must have just missed all the news coverage of the "fundamentalist" children killing people in suicide bombings so they can get their virgins in heaven. Clearly the fundamentalist children who want to "save" people are more dangerous than young terrorists who want to kill all the...

    Jumbo Frames?

What about a layer 3 switch? As I understand it a Layer 3 switch is basically a router implemented in hardware rather than software running on a processor.

    Jumbo Frames?

My understanding is that devices that don't support Jumbo Frames still will work, but the switch is responsible for converting / breaking up jumbo frames. Apparently some switches do a very poor job of this, or bog down badly when doing so.

    Inkjet that doesn't suck?

I'll recommend a mid level Canon Pixma. My iP5000 has been fantastic and the ink isn't super expensive, and it doesn't have 8 different colors. But, despite only have 5 colors (2 black and C,M,Y) it has top tier photo output.

    Corsair Flash Voayager 16GB - 134.99U$

Nice price... Tempting, but I don't fill my 2GB one, so by the time I need a 16GB one they'll be a lot cheaper, or a lot bigger.

24TB in a single box is now possible.

So much for the $399 MSRP. Edit: If you check Froogle for it there are a lot of places who don't have it in stock selling it for less than $400.

LG L245WP : 1920x1200 and HDMI for the mass.

I like the idea of a Sharp 32" LC-32D62 for a PC monitor myself. 1920x1080 and a real 2000:1 CR. None of these namby pamby sub 1000:1 CR's.

It basically is except the audio data is stuffed into the horizontal and vertical blanking interval of the video signal. It does not have discrete wires for audio data.

    Video Cards 2007

The HardOCP review shows both 8600 cards "beating" (as in offering a better gaming experience with higher resolution and more features enabled) the ATI / AMD X1950 Pro. You guys are talking about it like it can't beat a 7600GT and a X1650.

    Quiet 120mm fan

    Quiet 120mm fan

I'm using a P180B and a Scythe Ninja. I do not have a fan on the HSF. I have 1 Noctua 120mm case fan mounted behind it on the rear opening of the P180B, and that is it for moving air across the HSF.

A buddy at my old job has a broker he uses. Several other people at my last job refinanced their ARM's with her. I'm house hunting now and for a 30 year fixed with 20% down her rates are currently 5.875, 0 points, about $2k in closing costs. Not sure what a 15 year fixed refi would be though.

Will Ford make it past this year?

Please... It's not the foreign automaker's fault the big 3 were stupid and gave away the farm to the unions in the 60's and 70's. No one at any of the big 3 had the foresight to look this far down the road. It's not the foreign automaker's fault that the big 3 had dismal quality in the past...
