Yes, but only one drive per IDE channel was desirable for performance. I had the Escalade 6410 back in the day. It had four ports for four drives and worked well.

A 1TB WD Passport USB 3.0 drive is small, cheap, and fast enough for backups.

3.5" drives are too annoying to carry around. The 2.5" drives are 1TB now and hold enough for most consumer incremental/differential backups.

Thanks. I would be watching sport very infrequently if ever. In the US everyone is expected to watch the Stupor Bowl today. When I bought the TV the sales clerk commented on the delivery dates and how they are impacted by the demand for large screens in January. Just crazy.

The 120KHz mode is pointless. Everything looks like high speed video or an engineering record. Why do they bother and advertise it as something special?

The newest TV is the 116cm Samsung with 1080. There are so many inputs it is complicated. I removed all the old cables from the systems and used HDMI where possible. It think I have this right. The cable from the wall goes into a splitter with one side to the TV RF in and the other to the...

Is the source input always supposed to be 1080i? I assume the TV performs an uprez or is it better for the source to do that from the HDMI?

You may as well get a 1500VA unit, which is near the limit of a standard outlet. I have a couple of the APC 1300 UPS with the digital display. The problem is that if I plug in too many devices to one the run time is very short, so I use two to spread the load. I suppose a single high-end UPS...

My solution may be to remove it. Now I have three devices and an extra TV not in use. The Blue-Ray has a smaller display and no clock, which I don't like either. So far I don't see that much difference on the 720 TV, but I only have the 3 BR discs.

Are you in emergency services? I'd take a day off to avoid an accident.

I think the 4th DVD recorder will have to go. When I open the door on the BR the DVD closes and vice versa. :doh: I don't know what I was thinking by buying the same brand.

Thanks. I plan to use Blue-ray on the new 1080 TV that will be for the living reoom. The newish TV to the left of the computer is 720 as is the small TV in the bathroom, but the latter is only receiving the SD broadcast. I assume that it makes more sense to connect the Blue-ray to the larger...

The main facility I visit is/was closed except for emergencies. I guess you guys know better how bad it is there.

Interesting, but that is a bit much now for my modest TV to be. :eek3: Maybe I'll reconsider later if Blue-ray proves to be worthwhile. I suspect that DD has a half-dozen of those fancy ones. ;)
