    Unusual SSIDs?

It's just a pseudo-random name. No particular planetary bodies were involved. :spiderman:

    Why must TV forsake me?

I watched the series on a color Philco Ford console TV, which was new at the time and did not require the manual demagnetizer that the earlier sets did. :) US TV broadcasts were described as 525 lines back then.

Anybody still using Nero? Tried their Bluray player?

Does it include the conditioner? :D

I could donate a couple hundred dollars in June.

Why would anyone do that, too much free time on their hands?

    Unusual SSIDs?

I hope you are not 203. :( Why not use a random name like this: zTku52p_f4aPv678wjKB9? It has no particular meaning on the planet.

    question Larger TVs

You don't think that would be a good idea?:king:

    Why must TV forsake me?

For the time? Blue-rays are modern. Did they convert the film to HD?

    question Larger TVs

The cable DVR does not fast forward beyond the present. It should be possible if there is enough bandwidth and that show is not live, but perhaps the technology is not there yet.
  12. LunarMist

Anybody still using Nero? Tried their Bluray player?

I'm using 6&7; the Blue-ray is not in the computers.

SSDs - State of the Product?

Why the buffer? Does it hide some of the writing decrepitude or prolong the life of the flimsy new flash memory?
  15. LunarMist

    Why must TV forsake me?

Heh. The Omega Glory probably would not have been looked upon favorably there back then. OTOH, I've not seen the Star Wars movies other than the original film and about 5 minutes of the second one.

Why is the site always slow?

Oh that is terrible. First the MBF now this. Anything that I can do in the next months?

SSDs - State of the Product?

Sorry, I'm desperate and not making sense. I've not used the computer productively in almost two months, so it really doesn't matter anyway. :alien:

    iPad: any experience?

Most cordless phones operate at 1.9GHz nowadays, though there are some old 2.4 and 5.8GHz sets in people's homes. However, the speed (bit rate) does not relate to the frequency. I think WI-FI has much greater bandwitdth.

It is different, not necessarily better. Is a fork better than a spoon? :flower:

    Seagate launch 3TB Barracuda XT

What is this BIOS they keep talking about, the one on system board? Ibn that case, does it all only apply to the ICH drives? What about the normal usage of hard drives on SAS/SATA RAID controllers?

    Something Random

The Cuban Missile Crisis was as close as it got during my life, but I was too young to really understand the implications.

    Holy cow, but why?
  28. LunarMist

SSDs - State of the Product?

Does or will anyone make a 6GBps SATA drive with SLC? That is the obvious preference for a SSD that will be used for heavy writes.
  29. LunarMist

SSDs - State of the Product?

It is not 6GBps SATA though, correct?

    Why must TV forsake me?

All you young'uns don't remember when Star Trek was on live. :p It was a different world back then and the show was pretty wild. I have to admit being a Trekkie back then and into the early 70s. At one point I knew the name of every episode by heart.

SSDs - State of the Product?

I want a new SSD that is faster than the X25-E with equal or better reliability. It is >2 years later. Why is there nothing yet?

Why is the site always slow?

The slowdowns come and go. It was fast and then slowed again a couple of minutes ago. I don't think there is anything wrong with my system because other sites are loading quickly at the same times. Sorry if it sounds like I'm complaining.

At some places it is required per SOPs. It's not worth being fired and maybe millions in fines.

Eneloop Alternatives (or Cracking The Battery Lingo Codewords)

I prefer a charger with multiple current options. The AA Eneloops charge quite nicely at 500mA without generating much heat.
