That looks like another good program... I had played with FolderSizes before, but it costs money and I'm cheap. I went looking for alternatives when I came across Folder Size and WinDirStat.

Another equally useful tool is WinDirStat.

I might have been a tad too fast to praise this as the best thing since sliced bread. If you allow it to scan removable disks (configurable) you can't properly eject them without stopping the service. :(

It sounds like you're really talking about creating an online real time synchronized "backup", not a RAID-1 array. I don't have much experience with these. My opinion is you'd rather have a scheduled backup than a real-time one. If we hypothetically assume the "backup" is instant or real-time...

No. I still don't want advanced format drives on my RAID card. I don't think there is in my case. I have to admit I was a little surprised at how much faster the F4 is vs. the F3 simply by going from to 3 platters from 4 though.

I think it would be fine with Windows 7. The amount of RAM might cause you problems if you get too crazy with it though.

So, of the 10 new Samsung F3EG HD203WI's I recently bought, one of them wasn't exactly new. Windows XP reported a "foreign" partition on the drive. When I decided to test the drive to make sure it wasn't a bad / returned drive from someone's RAID array that was shipped to me as new with a...

So the system seems to draw ~130W at idle with 10HDs spinning (8 x 5400RPM / 2 x 7200RPM). I guess that's not too bad. I also got Newegg to refund me the the missing $5.37 too. So far I'm pretty happy with the system.

I think analog / VGA output also still works. Blu-Ray playback works under XP x86 (32-bit), but I've never tried it or read anything about XP x64.
