question PC may have died-need some feedback on MB/CPU/RAM

If course it sucks, but MS does not care about us old dinosaurs. Ultimately they want users to pay a monthly service fee to access whatever version of the OS and apps are current and keep the data on their outsourced servers in the cloud. If one does not pay every month (or some underpaid goof...

question PC may have died-need some feedback on MB/CPU/RAM

No. XP users are screwed as there is no direct upgrade from XP to 7 that retains the applications. :(

It really depends on that fickle Android dude. Sometimes he corrects a few typos and other times he goes nuts. ;) Since you have the 17-55 IS, the best normal zoom choice for your 7D, the 24-70 II would be of limited value.

I receive IT solicitations every day, mostly be e-mail. Much of the time I have no idea what they are all about. Today I made the mistake of answering my offset phone and some guy started blathering on about something system. I kept asking if it was a solicitation or sales pitch, but could...

DD, There have been some serious compromises made for the impressive, corner-to-corner performance of the 24-70/2.8 II at large apertures. The main flaw is distortion, which ranges from high and semi-moustachy barrel at 24 to unacceptable pincushion at 70. Another thing I don't like is the...

What does the D600 reach? The D800e only does 4FPS. I'd Rather pay 2X+ that to have 8FPS. At 4FPS the legs are too often out of whack.

Well, I'm Linda screwEd because the two classes of camera bodies I need are falling by the wayside, namely the D3X+D300 or 1Ds III+7D. Cheap FX bodies are of no interest to me now. Unfortunately the 6D/D600 class is killing off the market for the 7D/D300 type of performance crop bodies needed...

An SSD will probably save you money in the long run with fast system restores and better reliability/longevity.

If the old form factor is working, why not stick with it? Of course they should have SSDs if it is in the budget.

    question No more computers

I don't know how the VM thingie works, but I heard some Mac users will like it because the Moku 5 VM runs on them too. Apparently there is some other brand of the VM they are also considering. I hope the project does not occur as I would need to buy a laptop for that. In no way would I want...

    question No more computers

Well all they will support is the Moku 5 VM, which I assume has some security. The computer, OS, etc. would be the user's problem if what I understand is correct.

There is a rumor that next year all our company laptops will be taken away and then we will be doing everything with Muko 5 on our own "personal device." This sounds just awful. :( Any experiences?

SSDs - State of the Product?

I have thirty-something GB in the desktop system includin SSDs g two 240/256, so space is not the issue. The laptop I'm considering has only one drive. However, I'm not keen on paying two grand for an OCZ/Indilink drive.

    Best movie you've seen

    KVM Issues

Apparently such cables are not so easy to find. The vast majority are DVD-D, not -I. The only 3-ft cable at the egg is a Ro Swill. Monoprice has a six footer, but that increases the total cable length to twelve feet.

    KVM Issues

I think I see the problem. According to the pinouts, I have a dual-link DVI-D cable from the KVM to the monitor, whereas I need a DVD-I (either single or dual). Both of the VGA cables I use have the DVD-I connector at the other end, so that is why they work when connected directly. At least I...
