Oh yeah, that would be just great for repairs, not to mention the possibility of a warranty on the components.

What type of studio is this, portrait, products, food, other? Who are the clients, what are they looking for, will there be reps on site, etc. The output expectations often drive the IQ requirements. Amateurs typically go overboard on lenses, but skip on cameras, lighting, backdrops...

Although AF on the 85/1.2 is slow, it should be accurate. Something is wrong with the lens or more likely using it on the 7D is not a good idea.

Normally it is for general reportage in low light, or environmental portratits. You are more likely to see a 24-70 of some sort in the studio (for those shooting 135 format) for the normal angles and a 70-200/2.8 as short tele, along with some good fast primes like an 85/1.4 and 135/2. Of...

No. I have two 24-70/2.8 (first version) and one of the new version in addition to the 24-105.

Well of course, but who decreed that the increased density was limited to consumer drives?

    10TB hard drives.

Seriously? Don't the outsourced cloud storage companies need plenty of space?

    10TB hard drives.

That is rather slow. I was expecting a least 1.5 TB drives in less than another year. :(

Is that AMD CPU more like the i5 or i7? I would use an add-in card for the IDE if you need that port.

For 3, the Intel Cherryvale 520 or Samsung 830 are both very good, fast SSDs that have XP utilities in case you are still thinking about that OS. There a new Samsung 840 coming out as well.

Maybe if you did not hang around at the erotic dance club so much, and found a wholesome activity instead, you'd find more appropriate female companionship.

    Newegg Shipping, WTF?

No, I don't have the right clearance. It's not that there is anything bad, just too much missing and unknown.

If I did that, the complaint would probably come directly from my VP. Not good.

    Laptop Recommendations?

I am in error about the projector, as it does appear in the cart at the last minute. Yet what I really need is the extra hard drive carrier. :cursin: I don't know why this notebook is $2000 with a crummy 320GB HD; perhaps it is the Japananese name. If I order the unit with 4GB RAM and add 8GB...

question All-in-One PC or Other Options

Newegg seems to no longer be an option, due to the updated shipping policies. An i3 is as low as I'd be looking at, since that will keep a system usable longer. I am considering a slightly larger and easier option like buying a small, basic PC and a cheap 22-23' monitor. I have not purchased...

    Newegg Shipping, WTF?

I wanted to order from the egg yesterday and was chagrined to see that they no longer offer either UPS or Fedex. Since I am never at home during the work week, I need to pick up packages at UPS or the regular FedEx depots. (FedEx home is 35-40 miles away and they bounce $6000+ value...

question All-in-One PC or Other Options

No, I don't want to deal Windows 8. That's why I am buying computers now. I would not get a touch screen. I assume the all-in-ones will work with any keyboards, so I don't mind if a $10 one needs to be replaced once in a while. The laptop would have to be at least 17" or larger if 16:9 (I...

question All-in-One PC or Other Options

I have a very old user that currently has a 5-year-old laptop. The laptop power button is caved in and the keyboard is barely functional as there is plenty of food and liquid debris all over it. I'm trying to decide what to replace it with, either an all-in-one or a larger (17"?) laptop. My...

Yes, like that but the American version. It is interesting that in the King Kong version a removable HD can be installed in the bay. The US version does not have it.

My Toshiba laptop's HDD Protection program keeps getting disabled

Have you replaced the hard drive yet? That's what I would do, although normally I disable the disc protection because it is either overly sensitive or does not do anything. I doubt that static is an issue, especially if the drive was in the case.

The reviews of the 7' one on the amazon are not very encouraging. It seems that the apps are limited compared to the natural Gogggle apps available for other devices. Then you have to pay extra to remove advertizing from the home page. :( OTOH, the Google tablet has some mechanical design...
