    8 x 1.5TB + Perc 6i + RAID-6 = Faster Storage

Atto is basically worthless because the data size it uses is too small relative to the cache size of the drives and the cache on the PERC card.

    8 x 1.5TB + Perc 6i + RAID-6 = Faster Storage

You should increase the background init rate to 100%. The Init should only take about 6 hours.

    8 x 1.5TB + Perc 6i + RAID-6 = Faster Storage

I have a 80mm or 92mm fan blowing directly across the PERC card in each machine I have one in. You don't need a fan mounted directly to the HSF, but they definitely need direct airflow.

Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus or Xigmatek SD1283 Gaia?

I have the Cooler Master also on my i7-2600K. It seems to do a good job. I don't have any experience with the Xigmatek, so I can't compare.

    8 x 1.5TB + Perc 6i + RAID-6 = Faster Storage

Give it some time... That's normal. It should charge back up and re-enable WB.

    8 x 1.5TB + Perc 6i + RAID-6 = Faster Storage

I'm pretty sure if you watch it you'll see it does a background initialization which will definitely affect your benchmark numbers.

I've been to their keyboard factory in Kentucky before. Interesting to see someone still building keyboards in the US.

    Keyboards

I have one. It's works well enough. If I could change 1 thing it would be adding a backlight to the keyboard. If I could change a 2nd thing, I'd up the resolution on the trackball / sampling rate so the cursor could be moved faster across the screen. If you spin the ball too quickly it seems...

Most people are lazy. I know I am. People will pay money to be lazy. Look at Pay Per View, pizza delivery, etc... Greg's idea that the average person is going to get 2 2.5" USB HD's and manually back up their data, take them offsite, and rotate them weekly (or whatever) is laughable even if...

    Antec ISK 300 Case & 12.5mm thick 2.5" HDs

Well, my plan was successful. I was unable to bend the piece in the vice because it couldn't slide as it bent, so I used channel lock pliers to bend it most of the way down then hammered it flat. I now have 2 12.5mm thick drives in my ISK300 case.

AFAIK, they will accept any debit card that uses a PIN. I used a debit card prior to getting my AmEx.

Are you sure about that? My i7-2600K @ 4.2gHz with 16GB of 1600MHz of DDR3, one SSD, one 5400RPM HD, GF 7900GS, & 2 optical drives consumes all of ~160W from the wall with the CPU running 100% across all 8 threads with an Antec TruePower New TP-550 powering it.

I think it would be more accurate to say AmEx is the only credit card they accept. They do take checks, cash, and debit cards.

    Credit cards with good rewards

I've found that the vast majority of places I deal with take AmEx. It's very rare to find someplace that doesn't. Even when I've traveled internationally (Asia and Europe) it's been accepted pretty much everywhere. The Costco AmEx has: 1% back on all purchases 2% back on travel 3% back on...

Windows Home Server / Home Server OS

Are you pulling or pushing the data? I've found that can make a significant difference in copy speed. IE: Machine A pulling data from Machine B can be considerably faster than Machine B pushing data to Machine A. How big of a buffer did you configure FastCopy to use? In your test above it...

Windows Home Server / Home Server OS

Maybe... It depends on the block size being used by the Windows file copy mechanism. Obviously small files are written using small blocks, but I have no idea about large files. Have you tried FastCopy? No problem.

    RAM prices finally falling...

FWIW, the Mushkin kit I've been tracking went up $1 to 159.99. I guess the 4x4GB G.Skill kit I bought from Newegg during their 15% off promotion is probably as cheap as DDR2 4GB DIMMs willl get.
