    question Bad SSD

How does one contact Micron for replacement SSDs? Are the Newegg drives sold without warranty? The Micron support section is for engineers for something.

I'm not really interested in Cisco, I need the updated CPU/mainboard RAM. (Maybe there could be another thread about computer careers?)

Sure, but how does 4.2GBz on the 2010 hexagonal (Extreme) CPU compare to the 2013 Extreme CPU or late 2014 Extreme CPU? Is the latter 50% faster?

    New Computer

Some activities are a bit slow, but the single most time-consuming one is saving a file (a single-threaded process). Some of my plugins are single-threaded as well. RAM is only a significant issue with large, complex images from panos.

I would probably bug a Mac in that case of the Xenon. However, everything is not all multithreaded, even in the PS. From what I understand a single thread is not particularly fast.

    New Computer

I'm hoping for more speed. This will be my last new main computer. I could do a Bridewell in Q3 if it will be better than the current CPUs. Also, the chipsets and boards may have better and more advanced Ports.

4.2GHz only. I thought there were some new CPUs over the holidays. So there has not been much progress in almost four years? Is that due to the Intel monopoly? The RAM can be an issue, but also the lack of native 6Gbps SATA is not good.

    New Computer

Is this a good or bad time to rebuild the computer? I have the relatively ancient hexacore Gulfstream CPU with only 24GB of RAM and other annoying mainboard limitations. It is probably the longest I've ever had the same basic computer. My choices are to build now or perhaps in Q3. What shall...

    question Bad SSD

There is no removal poilcy box, but the write cahing is on as described. It is connected to an LSI 6GB SAS controller. In the ND-2730 the transfer rate is 80MB/sec. with the other SSDs but only 40 something with the odd one. I have no idea what OS it uses, but it is in firmware, not on the drive.

Seagate (Samsung) launch world first 2TB 2.5in HDD

    :D I meant vaporware. Perhaps the 2TB Samsung P3 is a 15 mm drive since the height is listed at up to 17.5 mm. How thick is your unit? DRIVE WEIGHT & DIMENSION • Weight (Max): 169g (1.5TB, 2TB), 151g (1TB), 141g (500GB) • Height (Max): 17.5mm • Width: 82mm • Length: 112mm

    question Bad SSD

I don't think so. Why would that one drive be slow in a computer and also in a Nexto ND2730? Is the write caching something that resides in the drive itself? I thought it was in the OS.

    question Bad SSD

I have three of the Crucuial 960GB SSDs and the newest one exhibits a strange behavior. After a short burst of a GB or so at a typical 400MB/sec., the write speed slows down dramatically to about 80GB/sec. Read speeds are always normal and there are no write/read or surface errors on the...

problem Desktop pc freezes after I put it to Sleep a 2nd time

Well, that is a topic for another thread. Assuming the OP does not have 32TB of internal drives with the O/C Gulfstream like I do, then the computer probably does not generate too much heat. Nevertheless, I'd just turn it off if the sleep driver issue is not resolved.

problem Desktop pc freezes after I put it to Sleep a 2nd time

Most people don't want noisy, hot, power hungry computers running night and day. I turn mine off at night and during the workday, unless they are busy doing sonething useful, which is perhaps two days per week.
