    5TB Toshiba

Thanks. I was going to post that the other day, but I had an attack and then forgot about. It's really strange that Hitachi has no 5x1TB consumer platform yet. Perhaps they are not the same since the Seagate deal.

    PCIe SSD

OK, is this better? It looks like there are two mSATA cards on a RAID card. I'm concerned that the performance would not really be very good. I can;t find much on the way of reviews. OWC has something similar, but it is for the Mac.

I don't get it. I don't have the problem elsewhere.

    storageforum App

:salut: Well apparently in the future there will be no more personal computers because nobody creates anything, at least in the US. Nobody needs storage, because everything will be in the clouds. And everything in the world will be controlled by a stupid smartphone and a special, buggy...

    PCIe SSD

Do you think it really is not worthwhile?
  13. LunarMist

    PCIe SSD

The fast ones are really quite pricey, being designed for servers. For a grand it would probably be an internal RAID card with containing a couple of SSD modules that produce 800 MB/sec. or thereabouts.
  14. LunarMist

    PCIe SSD

$1000 is the most I want to spend on this ancient computer at the moment. The PCIe 2.x bus has a max of 500MB/sec., so an 8x card could reach 4GB/sec. minus some overhead. SATA 3 only reaches about 600 MB/sec. minus some overhead.
  15. LunarMist

    PCIe SSD

What is a decent choice in high performing, reliable PCIe SSDs that is around $1000? It needs to work in the 8x slot. Thanks.

I was unable to have it done since there was a flight cancellation. I'm screwed, but that is not even the worst thing this week. :crucified:

    Cold

Not really. The person that was flying in to help me with the surgery could not make it. The flight was cancelled because there was no plane available, although the weather would have been OK at the departure and arrival cities. :frusty: I wonder if there will be a charge for a no show.

    "New" drives...

Normally I find that new hard drives have 0-1 hours and 2 power cycles. I assume there is a reset of the SMART data after the drive is formatted and tested. What you have is a used drive that was running for almost 25,000 hours in total. :(

Proposal for a tipbot system using cryptocurreny

It's too complicated for me. I can donate to help the site, if it is anonymous. This whole online currency fad seems like a ponzi scheme or money laundering scam. I'll stick with dollars or euros, etc.

    Microsoft Mice...

I don't like the USB mice for laptops as they take up a USB port and the tiny adapter is easy to lose. Unless the laptop is ancient or really cheap it most likely has a blue tooth. I use several of the MS BT mobile BT mice, but they are no longer made.
