It's not even DX, but CX for the ultra-miniature 8.8x13.2mm sensors in the Nikon 1 series. They are the same type of sensors used in the RX-100 series compact P/S cameras. Basically it's the equivalent of a 35mm lens with DOF more like f/4.9.

Nikon has always had good mid-range products. Back in the day they did not make cheap stuff, but that changed in the 1980s with the EM, E series lenses, etc. Canon and Nikon both have various cycles for new lenses, so it depends when you are in the market. Currently Nikon is a bit behind with...

HAMR or Heat-Assisted Magnetic Recording. 100 TB HDD by 2025.

I have very few friends and they use Apples or laptops, etc. with a portable backup drive or Time Machines. Most people don't have 10TB of drives much less 100TB. Other than some members here, I don't know anyone else that has over 100TB of personal drives like me.

HAMR or Heat-Assisted Magnetic Recording. 100 TB HDD by 2025.

Sure, but it would be nice to have some of those 100TB drives RAIDed for the bulk storage and backups, like the RAW files after processing is done. :) Even the 15.3 TB SSDs in RAID will crap out occasionally. How are they backed up? For now (as a working stiff) I'll keep using a few SSDs for...

HAMR or Heat-Assisted Magnetic Recording. 100 TB HDD by 2025.

Large cities are rather a dying breed. NYC is less than 3% of the population. Even if you add Chicago or SF, etc. I don't see that as representative of the country as a whole. 40 miles per charge is insufficient. 90% of total round trips may be less than 40 miles, but the number of people...

HAMR or Heat-Assisted Magnetic Recording. 100 TB HDD by 2025.

I thought about 7 years ago you predicted hard drives would be dying out in 2012 or something, and they are still hanging in there. :) I hear that in some countries tape drives as still used for enterprise backups. The dead end of SSD process shrink and requirements for stacked memory cells has...

    Android phones: Tips, tricks?

I got a Caseology for it. Now I see there is a memory card slot on top of the SIM card. I found an unopened 32GB BSD card, but of a slovenly type (~15MB/sec. write-45MB/sec. read). Is that good enough? From what I read the phone does not allow anything important to be written to the card...

SSDs - State of the Product?

Yeah I want one of those 850 Pros too, and am hoping it will be a little cheaper soon. The EVO is $650 now on sale, but I think it uses too much power for my purposes. The Sandisk SAS SSD is 15mm in the largest capacities and power specs are 5/12V 7W. It's a 2.5" drive, but not a mobile drive...

The Canon 200-400 is just great and does not suffer from the aberrations that the Nikkor has at long distance. The 24-70/2.8 with VR looks to be the new standard of the range. However, I wish someone would make a better 24-105 or similar. The current Nikkor is better than the old, but still...
