I'm not sure what is a driving style. Is that something competitive grading on points? One would expect loose objects would be disallowed as they would become projectiles on impact. Do you have some kind of amateur rally car?

No. That one is of no interest. The Canon 11-24 is wide enough and optically excellent as you would imagine from a modern lens. However, I have no use for an ultra-wide on that type of trip. I don't even bring a tripod.

That seems like a scam to me. Either the miles or wrong or the car is badly damaged or something. OTOH, private sales are usually paid in full, not on a loan basis.

Due to the type of work I do there are only limited opportunities in the US and most of them are concentrated on the outskirts of greater urban areas. Of course a lot of jobs can be done from home and I'd consider that, but the goal then would be to find an area where the cost of living is low...

I don't like cars either, and the process of choosing and buying one is an unpleasant hassle. However, living in a crowded city with mass populations everywhere and limited parking is far worse. Merc is not the big city guy either. FWIW, I would not survive very long after reaching the point...

Depending on how many bags deployed in can be a few thousand dollars. If the airbags deployed then wouldn't the front end be rather damaged? I've seen significant frontal damage without airbags deploying.

Considering that you are gainfully employed, interest rates are low, and you don't drive many miles, I think you should just buy a new vehicle and drive it 10+ years.

I agree. There's no way the US infrastructure will change. It's not economical. There are literally billions of appliances and devices designed to run on single phase 120VAC.
