BH or secondarily Adorama are good choices because they sell legit retail cards. I would not buy memory cards from Amazon as they source from multiple suppliers and some have been found to be counterfeit. :( Are you sending NEF to one card and JPG to another? For personal use (not shooting on...

Nichia Develops 60 Lumen Per Watt White LED

Of course incandescent E26 lamps are being phased out, but when will LED replace CFL? There were still more CFL than LED lamps at the store the last time I looked (August).

It definitely seems inefficient. What I've seen lately is that for one-day shipping the delivery time is scheduled for prior to 9PM. So then by 9:30 or 10:00 there is still no package and yet the online notification indicates that it was delivered at around 8:45. In the morning the package is...

There are no Canon cameras in recent times that support both CF and SD that are not significantly faster with CF cards. Using two cards at the same time will result is a slowdown and/or reduced buffer capacity.

I did not realize the lens did not focus very close. One can add some extension tubes. I assumed the D610 was in the 70MB/sec.+ range, but perhaps not. What is the write speed? I know the SD slot on the D600, D800 and some other older bodies were capped in the upper 30MB/sec. range. The...

What is up with the Amazons? I bought n=12 of a simple item, but they shipped in three groups of 4 boxes over a 12-day period with no additional notification. It's ridiculous. At least there are no additional charges per the Amazonian Primes.

Best guess at best value 4 TB or bigger mechanical drive on sale, right now?

I think they are the same ones that have been around for over year. I have 10 or so, mainly used as backup drives. The 4 TB are 5900 RPM. The 6TB are 7200 RPM, so I use them as primary drives. The standard middle mounting threads are absent since the platters take up the full height of the...

What is your purpose in capturing the images? If it is high quality print, then you need to get much closer. If it is only for the web, then crop tightly. Nobody wants to see all that dead space. ;) I don't usually judge quality of web images, only the RAW files. The small part that is in...

Not anymore, at least for ~2 years if my health remains stable. I use gloves in CA and AZ/UT, etc. as well, especially at high altitudes. They are also necessary in the southern hemisphere for the penguins up close.

I drove a few Nissans recently as rentals, not my preference. I really don't like the CVTs. The one in the 4-banger Altima was especially awful. It sounded like a low gear revved up all the time even under 2K. The one in the V6 SUV was not too noisy at low RPMs, but was noisier than a...
