Is it possible to have two internet providers connected at the same time on one computer or the wireless? For example, I might try out the cable or the FIBOS. Thanks.

    Happy Holidays (2015)

We have no snow or fat guys with reindeer in the Southland, but there still is still have Christmas. I've been in Australia on Christmas and it seemed normal to me. I've also been in the Caribbean and in various places in Africa, etc. over Christmas as well. All that Santa stuff is European...

I don't expect any pro body in APS-C, but perhaps something like the D300/7D class. The new fast card types (XQD, CFast, and SD UHS-II) reduce dependency on large buffers.

I haven given up on the Christmas and will wait until early March, just in case there is something better announced by then. I know it's not likely.

    Toshiba 7200rpm 4 gig, about 200 MB/sec

I may be the only one, but the Toshiba drives are so cheap and have such low reviews that I've always avoided them. Have the 3.5" drives developed any interesting technology improvements since being split off from Hitachi?

I don't know which HDTune test is being run, but the minimum must be much less than 172 unless the drive is being short stroked. What is the access time?

SSDs - State of the Product?

I never heard of such a thing and I've owned most of the better PSDs over the past ~13 years. Of course there is no end to human error. However, one of the hallmarks of a pro in any field is to avoid unnecessary risks and not experiment around a job.

SSDs - State of the Product?

Due to the little single-engine plane's ridiculous limits, I'm already 10 lbs. overweight with the bare essentials. I will be secreting as much as possible on my body including CF cards, this device, and perhaps a spare SSD. ;)

SSDs - State of the Product?

It is a very fast storage device for downloading from flash media. The Nexto DI 2901 is the current model for photo use. They mostly produce storage products for on location pro video.

SSDs - State of the Product?

Is the 850 Pro still the best 2.5" 2TB SSD for use in a Nexto DI? I'm not considering some funky SSD brands/suppliers or any over $1000.

    Windows Security Game Over

IIRC there was a special version of XP long ago. It may have been EC only, but I don't recall. I doubt that exists today with the MS philosophy of shoving Win 10 up our assess.

Buy a D7200 and go somewhere where the animals are in a natural setting. Get closer to the subjects and use a blind if necessary. Generally that's all much cheaper and will yield better results.

That's fine for immobile subjects, but it's often necessary to move in three dimensions for maintaining composition and magnification while following critters around.

I really got serious about photography in the 1970s specifically for the macros of small animals. Back then calculating multi-flash exposures at various magnifications was rather difficult without a flash meter. Nowadays there a number of relatively cheap macros, not to mention that there a...

    External GPS

They are saying something about mid-2017, but I'm not sure yet. The location will vary due to the ship movements and 80° is just a rough idea. Most likely the bidding will start in May 2016.

    External GPS

I've been trying various GPS apps for the phone and am not completely satisfied with them for the battery life and how they handle signal loss and phone standby. My 2008 handheld is dropping tracks occasionally and the display is flickering more and more so I may buy a new one. I noticed that...

I don't let the cell phone in the master bedroom. However, I do use it as one alarm on travel although the time only updates when there is service. Something about the Andordis does not update time from the GPS. Perhaps I'm not doing something right.

Apparently the only difference between the 20DW and the 25DW is that the latter has some cheaper ink cartridges. The XXL inks for the 20DW are decently priced though compared to inks for most smaller format printers. We shall see if the printer is well received on Christmas day.

At some point it would be more practical to have fewer, more powerful lights, no? What do the pros do? It reminds me of the commie rocket in the 60s that had a crapload of smallish engines and kept blowing up.

A 600/5.6 has a large front end, the same as a 300/2.8. As a zoon it has more glass and should be longer and heavier. You'll note from the patent diagram that the length of the 200-600 does not change during zooming. I find it difficult to believe that it would be a cheap lens, though it...
