    Firefox 1.0

I've had some REALLY stupid users revert back to IE after using firefox without issue. Their reasons were that firefox wasn't compatible with some -massively- spyware-riddled software that they insisted on using.

Well, the majority of my folders were just taken offline. There is an incompatability between it and Star Wars: Battlefront. Levels take 5-10x longer to load with the client running in the background. It seems some of the portions of the app use "Idle" priority.

Zalman is now selling free weights

None of Zalman's "flower" series have fan guards. But the blades are actually sunk into the heatsink, so you'd have to stick your fingers down into the blades to damage yourself. Simply grabbing the heatsink is safe.

    Bigger Drives When?

I have had significantly more data corruption on FAT32 than on NTFS. The biggest problems are on developer stations, where the system hard locks and can't be shut down properly often. Another one of my clients was using a power bar to turn on/off their PC, that caused me to have to do a...

    Episode III

I loved the first 3 movies, they were certainly my favorite films growing up. I went into #1 expecting more of the same feel, suspense, excitement, and quality - Dissapointed. I went to see #2 expacting maybe not the same excitement or feel, but still a good film with characters I was familiar...

    Playing with VPN...

It is very helpful, thank you, but it's a bit late for it to be making sense. Basically what you are saying is that the VPN gateways and all the machines on each end can exist within the same network, and that the gateways themselves will identify what traffic needs to be passed through the VPN...

So simply changing the subnets to 255.255.0.0 would suffice? I was under the impression that you wanted them in different subnets so that the traffic would go though the default gateway.

So, am I missing something here? I have 2 Linksys/Cisco NV042 VPN routers, each connected to a high-speed internet connection with a static IP. Each router has been competely configured and connects to the internet flawlessly. Each has been configured with a "Gateway to Gateway" VPN link and...

Rosewill or Jetway ATI cards any good?

I noticed newegg's scarcity of video cards myself the other day, don't know what's going on. IIRC, if the board supports AGP 4x, than any 8x cards will also work. The funky incompatabilities were all between 1x, 2x, and 4x.
  15. ddrueding

Loud Pop + Smoke = Machine still working???

Indeed. I've found a few case manufacturers "cheat" on the underside of the board; using either shorter headers or sinking the mounting points below the level of the sheet metal. Either brings the bottom of the board closer to the grounded sheet metal of the case.

Rosewill or Jetway ATI cards any good?

Can't really speak WRT to brands, as I only use Sapphire or ATI, but I can definatly reccomend staying away from the "LE" cards. From what I've heard, they are significantly crippled variants.

    PCI-X and PCI-E: Why?

  43. ddrueding

    PCI-X and PCI-E: Why?

So PCI-X is a brute-force kludge that is here to deal with excess demand on current technology, while PCI-E is a new architecture that promises higher speeds at lower costs (eventually). Do I have it right? Will servers eventually go PCI-E?
  44. ddrueding

    PCI-X and PCI-E: Why?

IRC, those are 1x PCI-E slots. Wasnt the spec to include different sized slots for the different speed ranges? The one that replaces AGP is clearly a 16x slot.
