    Moving to Eugene, Oregon

Well, we'll see how it goes. I'm trying to keep all my clients down here (Monterey, CA) while going up there, so I won't need that much income, but I better find some solid work or I'll go crazy. The alternative is that I just found a great location for another computer gaming center; it's half...

    Moving to Eugene, Oregon

Well, after some soul-searching, I've decided I don't want to be a corporate drone :o Looks like I'll be trying to start a new consulting business in Eugene, maybe opening a LAN center if I can get the capital. At least Portland International has free WiFi access (posting from gate C1 right...

Just a comment about the commentary regarding the reputation of various companies and/or products. It seems every company out there has had a reason to be hated and a reason to be loved. The reasons to be loved are immediatly visible and the resons to be hated may take months/years to surface...

MAG 972PF-s 19" CRT any good?

Although I have no personal experience with it, I can look at the specs and be cautious. Dot Pitch: 0.25 is mediocre. Resolution: 1280x1024@76hz MAX, Although this is likely the resolution I'd use, most CRTs don't perform well when operating at max spec.

    Annual Upgrade

I agree that 90% of users don't need to break the 1GB barrier any time soon. When regular users ask me what machine to get, I say "The cheapest Dell you can get with a DVD burner and the nicest monitor you can afford". I haven't had a complaint yet. What I mean by "desktop motherboard" is...

    Annual Upgrade

As far as the "big picture" and upgrading, I don't see a major step coming until desktop-class systems are able to exceed 4GB of RAM. Until then, masses of CPU power and evolutionary and 15k RPM drives are stagnant.

I'm looking at doing something similar, setting up an intranet just for handling helpdesk calls. Anyone have a free, pre-made solution? Hosting it via IIS is a must, tying into either MSDE or Access would be ideal.

    Has anyone ever used . . .

I recently got one of these it rocks. The only problem is it uses a format other than NTFS or FAT32, so you can't use the USB drive directly with a PC after the mandatory format. Network speeds were OK, though I didn't run proper benchmarks before I gave it to my GF. It manages streaming DIVX ok.

How long have you lived at your current address?

This is the longest I've lived anywhere since I left home (1.5 years), my average is around 8 months.
