    MP3 player rant

I hate iTunes, but I hate it when people try to use that as an argument against an iPod as well. Despite what apple says, iPod != iTunes. I have never, ever, installed iTunes on any computer. Further, the fact that iPods are the most popular portable music player in the world by a significant...

    Windows *Vista*

A very simple reason will drive most of my clients to upgrade; the stated "reccomended configuration" on some piece of software. Most of the mainstream apps say they'll support older OSes, but the nitche products don't bother. For the most part, their "reccomended" system includes the latest OS...

    Windows *Vista*

To me, Vista looks like tons of money. Just converting one of my medium sized clients would be thousands in hardware (with margin) and 100+ hours of labor (upgrades, data migration, training). My biggest client will probably take a month or more of full-time effort to get moved over. Sure...

    MP3 player rant

I used my iPod nano for the purpose once with a 3rd party firmware, just to try it out. Seemed to work well, though there's no practical experience and clearly no support.

It seems this system does have a hard limit on the number of messages, not the size of them. Handruin, don't let all the pressure from us here get to you; you have a lot going on and (as you can see) we are all cabable of using the forum in it's current state until you get settled.

This might cheer up your day

My mouse requires all of 40sq.in. of desk space. More is consumed by my arm resting on the desk, or by my headphones, or by the plate of food. Much more was freed up by wallmounting the LCD or the speakers. Not to mention the fact that my keyboard and mouse are wireless, thus not needing to...

    Yay! I installed Fedora...now what?

Alright, the current experiment is over. Time to migrate my mail back from Thunderbird in Kubunto into Outlook in a PST in WinXP. I think I need help on this one. Apparently there's a hidden directory that contains my mail?

Wow. My favorite Tango partner, Olga, convinced me that the only way to drink vodka is by the shot; no ice, no mixers, no wimps - chased with fresh strawberries. Holy shit. I've never seen an entire bottle dissapear that fast, and I've never had to make so many corrections in a post before. Now...

    Intel strikes back

That's what I'm most looking forward to. I have several clients who are AMD-fanboys like no other. They insist on getting Intel chips beacuse they are "proven technology". I haven't had the heart to tell them that all their servers have been AMD for years.

    Anyone use freeNAS

I've looked at and considered several packages like this. My reasoning is as follows: 1. I'm not a linux guy, I might not be able to save my data if thhings go wrong. 2. I, and my clients, have all the MS licencing we need. This wouldn't save us any money. 3. I have not seen any evidence that...

    I made a few changes...

There are quite a few things I like (this quickreply is great). I'm confident that some mods to the skin will resolve the other complaints, which seem to be: 1. I not used to feature x, remove it so no-one can use it ever. 2. Feature x used to be here, and now it's there...I'm confused.

How to tell which type of key I have for XP Pro?

It's a PITA. At this point I have a way around it that involves rebooting in safe mode, changing the permissions of it's DLL, then rebooting again. It's not that big a deal, I'm just bummed that the VLKs a friend hooked me up with have now been reported. :(

    MP3 - related utilities

These tools simply make identifying and correcting tags easier. But I can also see their use if you have aquired significant...
