You Make The Call: Is It Grounded?

Here we have solid clay from about 8" on down. I have driven a 6' grounding rod all the way in, and did considerable damage to the wall in the process. Fortunatly I missed the water main and gass main which were about 8" away.

    Fix a scratched LCD?

I actually have a 19" with scratches a bit worse than that. I use it on my bench. I actually ended up using a rezor blade to remove the materiel that was hanging off the display, but the display under the scratch still looks like @ss. I wouldn't use it for anything but checking progress of...

    Car RANT

If you buy a car new for under $10k, you know it's a POS. You know it's a POS and you buy it anyway. I was poor and needed a car; I regret the decision.

    Car RANT

I actually have good things to say about most of the cars I've bought in the past. My current VW has 105k miles in 3 years, without anything more than Oil and Tire changes in the last 85,000 miles! Other cars I've had for significant amounts of time/distance were an Audi S4, Porsche 911, Porsche...

Pacifica looks nice, except for the fact that it's so far from my work. I still have a number of clients in the Salinas area, and I still sail my boat out of Monterey. Gigabyte advanced RMA not available?

    Car RANT

I couldn't agree more. I was helping a friend drop the motor on his 1997 Cavalier Z and it was an absolute nightmare. He's an ex-airforce crew chief (F-117s) and said the biggest PITA was his car.

Looking for a computer for a friend

Pearl Jam has already ruined their sound. They used to be good, then they got therapy, now they suck. Same with Guns'n'Roses, Metallica, and countless other bands. Nirvana was awesome until the depression killed Kurt Cobain, that meant they had no time to "get better" and suck.

But that would be buying a device that is designed to perform the task required, instead of modifying a more advanced and expensive toy to perform the same task! That all depends on how good a friend it is. If, on the other hand, this is a "friend" (i.e. - someone you know...

I wouldn't buy a computer on e-bay. To be clear I wouldn't really buy anything that could have complex issues, or difficult to identify flaws on ebay.
