Meh. Hard drives are not a source of energy, so I'm not particuarly worried. I've had chips/caps blow up in the past. The fact that an actual problem (laptop batteries made by sony) causes a non-problem (one hard drive's spectacular failure) to get press is just annoying.

IMHO, they are the generic blandness in the middle. Nothing exceptional, but they tend to "just work". I'd give them a go.

BF2 Works fine....looks like it is a RoN issue. I bought the "Gold Edition" today; it includes the expansion pack, and is updated to the point where all the new updates can only be downloaded from inside the game...kinda useless for me.

Interesting, here is what happens for me. Latest Firefox with AdBlock Extension and a few others.

Ctrl-C / Ctrl-V work, as does right-click "copy" and right-click "paste" I can also drag n' drop text just by highlighting it and moving it around.

For now I've just set the drive aside and done a temp install on another drive. I will at some point attempt to do a recovery of it. BIOS detects it fine, as does Linux when booted to the CD. But it can't be mounted, and it can't be accessed. We'll see what I can do when I have more time.

I'll be able to tell you tomorrow when I get back to my office if that's OK.

I'm sure it is, I just hate having to re-install everything. I just threw in a 160GB drive I had sitting around and am installing TinyXP Beast Edition on it...we'll see how it goes.
