Hard Drive Enclosures: well built and reasonably priced?

If I ever need USB drives again, I'll either get more of these or use these along with these. I just don't trust the fan-less aftermarket cases to keep the drives cool enough, and I don't trust the fans to survive or be quiet enough.

Anandtech reviews the Hitachi Deskstar 7K1000

The online resellers that support pre-orders are saying they won't have 1TB drives until July. I was curious, as Fry's is now selling the 750GB drives for $220 each (PATA or SATA) - no rebates needed.

Moving a RAID-0 to another motherboard?

Ha! Just got it back. All it killed was the PS, but in replacing the PS I managed to break off another SATA power connector (it's really tight in a P180). Good thing I'm using WD Raptors, as they also support molex power connections. New motherboard arrived at my office today after I left; I...

Moving a RAID-0 to another motherboard?

Well, it would have been nice to find out, but my GF managed to hose my system before I could test it. She says all she did was blow the fuse, then try to reset it. But from my UPS logs, it looks like the power went on and off at least 6 times, with various spikes and sags along the way. And...

    New home! Advice welcome

:p some friends and I actually had some fun, sneaking around the house at night trying to find a way to approach without setting off one of the lights. We ended up having to use a technique like in the movie Sneakers, where you move very, very slowly. I figured that was good enough.

The good ones have adjustments for duration, distance, and sensitivity. I made sure to set mine just above cat in sensitivity, just before street in distance, and to turn off within about a minute.

Moving a RAID-0 to another motherboard?

Obviously not a solution Problem: Broken arm Solution: Don't have arms? There is no data on this array. Just the OS. It could die at any time and I wouldn't lose data. I'd just have to re-install the OS and apps. I'd rather avoid it, but it isn't a big deal.

Those do look nice Merc. How do you think they compare to the heatpipe ones made by Zalman? The last time I had a drive array in a quiet computer, I removed the drive rack completely and suspended some drives mounted in these; it actually worked pretty well.
  38. ddrueding

Quiet tower case for 8+ HDDs?

It's ATX, but the motherboard is upside-down; this keeps the GPU heat from rising into the CPU cooler and puts the hot components of any expansion cards facing up, so it isn't trapped under the cards. I think it's a good idea.
