    Train Travel

One of the things I found about my regular trip was that is was much busier on Mondays, people has been boarding the train all weekend as it headed south. Point being that it isn't necessarily about who got on at your stop, but how long the train has been accumulating riders.

Heh. Actually, considering that cases aren't made from hardened steel, basic jeweler's hard tools work very well. I have a half-sized hacksaw that should do nicely.

Once, riding from Oakland to Salinas (70 minute trip with one stop), the train was 7 hours late getting to Oakland and took 150 minutes to complete the trip. Apparently it had engine problems in southern Oregon and the replacement engine was in Santa Barbara. Moral? A train is more likely to be...

I've ridden the Coast Starlight many times. It used to be my monthly trip home to see my parents, and lately I've taken it from San Jose to LA a couple of times for Disneyland/Las Vegas vacations. The only downside is the once a day schedule, if it isn't convenient, it doesn't make sense. How...

    Looking for a uATX case

I've been wondering what it would take to mod a 3300 into taking an ATX PS. It looks like the compartment is wide and tall enough provided the airflow is purely front-to-back, like the Antec NeoHE series.

Thanks for the tip. I have the "HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool", and have been experimenting with different system files. I'd like to support FAT32 if possible, so the whole thing can be one partition. I've been playing with BartPE, and it is the only app to date that I can get to completely...

Considering the hardware Alienware is notorious for putting in their laptops, heat issues are likely to happen regardless. The only thing they are efficient about is converting their battery to heat as quickly as possible.

Merc, Considering the conversations we've been having elsewhere, I suggest you be decisive on something you know you want. Do whatever it takes; leave work, take a taxi, and get a f-ing pizza. For me, moments where I know exactly what I want are rare, and not to be missed.

I am clinically bi-polar, so don't expect too much out of me ;) In the second paragraph you posted, you presented the standard line. "You should be happy, there are people worse of then you." Why C.A.F.E Standards are Dumb

I've lived in about 20 places in Berkeley and San Francisco over the years. Happy enough is a simple term to me. There are things in life that need to be done to continue living. Some of these things I don't enjoy, or even consider work. If the positive things don't outweigh the negative, then a neutral position (death) is the better choice. It's the most basic of...

    Why C.A.F.E Standards are Dumb

    Why C.A.F.E Standards are Dumb

Passing laws that are against peoples short-term interest is dumb. People are cattle, and will make decisions based on what they think is best for them. Another Digital Camera Thread - Point and Shoot

I would suspect that a pistol-like format would be the most stable, easy to use. Considering that the objective with a pistol and a camera are the same (easy to move around, easy to aim quickly, easy to hold still, precise timing of the trigger) I think it makes a lot of sense.
