I was just reading an article in a Photo magazine talking about that area, seemed very cool. I think the best thing to come from me getting into photography is that I am more likely to go to beautiful places. I don't know why I didn't before, but it is a nice side-effect.

    Restoring System

It was harder way back when, but it was also harder in W2K than XP. I haven't done a W2K hardware swap in at least 4 years. The most difficulty I envision is doing a sysprep before or a repair installation after. Neither is exceptionally difficult.

    Restoring System

There may be some issues, but they will be recoverable without too much trouble. Newegg still has an Intel 975X motherboard as an open box item, but I would try to move forward with the technology. Mercutio has more experience with this than I do, but installing the new drivers in an existing...

That is the movie I want to see right now. Unfortunately, the other 20-something geeks wanted to watch Iron Man. I'm not saying it is a bad movie, just that when the tech departs that far from reality I have a hard time suspending disbelief.

Well, my screen has a 0.5415mm Pixel Pitch, and I'm viewing in "actual pixels" for the resizing. And, for the record, my resizing technique for both was: 1. Open in Photoshop CS3 2. Image size... 3. Change size and resample with "Bicubic Sharper (best for reduction)" 4. Save Nothing else was done.

IMHO, you went a bit overboard on the contrast. I'm not saying it looks bad, it just looks significantly different than the original.

Right in the middle of an HDR pano, an exposure set output RAW files with resolution of 3485x2348 instead of the usual 4272x2856. The pano was a total of 33 shots (11x3) and only one set of three right in the middle was smaller. WTF? Any ideas?

Moving Exchange Emails to Google Apps

I find GMail's spam filtering to be the best anywhere. The spam folder is visible from the main interface (even through IMAP!) and I get one spam a day, with one false-positive a month. I've migrated several clients to it (3-15 users) and they all love it. All we need now is an IMAP-like...

Seconded. Though with the lower resolution of stuff viewed over the web (Netflix, etc), I would suggest a projector instead; it is lower resolution, but it is still better than the online stuff.

Best Present for 1st time builder

Case or video card, I'm leaning towards case. It is the part that most first-time builders don't give enough significance to, and it will last the longest. It is also the only part where real aesthetic decisions can be made, allowing for a more personal gift.

Seconded. I haven't measured the power output, but it all becomes heat, and they run much cooler than 2.5" drives.

That is an EF-S 10-22 @ 10mm f8. But it is actually 16 pictures. The only way to get the dynamic range was to HDR it, and I was also trying to get higher DOF, so I combined 4 different focal lengths (each with it's own HDR set). That makes some bits of it blurry, but I like that the leaves in...

    Mobo and CPU upgrade

I'm still a fan of Gigabyte, but I am currently running an XFX board (the only one made with the features I needed). I'm also told that Intel makes very stable (and not overclockable) boards. I'm not up to speed on motherboards, but this looks like a fine choice.
